They should've added launch control

o0javi0o 11-16-2008 01:43 PM

I am trading for a Touring w/o Nav. Package. nice nice.
Love the 245 and 275 tires w/ 19" wheels.
I was expecting at least 340 bhp, but it is nice the 332 ponies under the hood anyway.

It will def be a more refined car. Even though people are saying that the Z weight is still pretty high, 46/54 weight ratio and only having 332 HP, I still think it's going to be quite faster and a lot better than the 350Z. If you look at the specs list, you'll find out why it's so much better... check it out

o0javi0o 11-16-2008 04:05 PM

no no, don't get me wrong. 332 for me, it is perfect, I was just saying that I was expecting, before the specs were released, 340 bhp :) and I cant wait to trade my 07 Z, for this 370Z.

Ryephile 11-17-2008 11:28 PM

The specifications look fantastic. The power to weight ratio will be very nice and balanced. The slight added fuel economy from the 350Z is always a plus. I love how Nissan actually made the car smaller and lighter than the outgoing model; that's so very rare these days!

Question: Can anyone speculate why the turning radius is larger for the 19" wheels? Perhaps they add steering rack limiters from the extra width?

tifosiotaku 11-20-2008 08:29 AM

The fuel economy is pretty much on par with what I hoped. 18 city/26 highway? Awesome. :D

3.7-liter DOHC 24-valve V63.7-liter DOHC 24-valve V6

V6 engine from the award-winning VQ series provides outstanding response. Large-displacement design provides more power (especially when accelerating and passing) and helps reduce engine stress by allowing the engine to work efficiently at any given speed.

Double overhead cam (DOHC), 24-valve design enhances performance and engine efficiency by providing direct actuation of intake and exhaust valves.

Output of this engine makes it one of the most powerful engines among its primary competitors.

Aluminum-alloy components improve performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions control by reducing engine weight and allowing the engine to warm up more quickly.

Use of lightweight components improves response and helps diminish vibration by reducing energy losses during operation, allowing engine speed to rise faster.

Friction reduction technologyFriction reduction technology

Use of low-friction components improves engine efficiency, power, and durability by reducing friction (heat) and vibration.
Dry-film-coated pistons

Microfinished crankshaft and camshafts
Microfinishing is a separate manufacturing process that puts an ultra-smooth finish on rotating surfaces, helping enable the shafts to turn with the least possible resistance.

Diamond-like carbon coating on valve lifters
A super-smooth and super-hard coating applied to the valve lifters helps reduce wear.

Liquid-filled engine mount enhances comfort by reducing engine noise and vibration.

Fluid in one engine mount helps absorb engine vibrations before they reach the passenger compartment.
Timing-chain-driven camshafts Timing-chain-driven camshafts

Unlike timing belts, timing chains do not require scheduled maintenance inspections or replacement for the service life of the engine. Timing chains provide more precise and reliable actuation of camshafts.
Silent-type
The design of the camshaft timing chain helps reduce engine noise.

Timing-chain-driven water pump
The compact water pump is located inside the timing case, reducing engine size, improving reliability, and providing precise control of coolant circulation.

Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS)Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS
Valve timing is varied continuously to help improve power, driveability, fuel economy, and emissions.
Intake

VVEL continuously varies intake valve timing and valve lift to enhance acceleration, increase fuel efficiency, and reduce exhaust emissions. It works in conjunction with CVTCS.

NDIS provides consistent and reliable high voltage to the spark plugs for improved performance and longer life with less service. Individual coils located directly over each spark plug replace the mechanical distributor, spark plug wires, and single or shared coils of conventional ignition systems.

Iridium-tipped spark plugs
Iridium-tipped spark plugs
Ultra-small-diameter iridium center and ground electrodes reduce voltage requirement and help extend ignition system life.

Drive-by-wire provides more precise throttle control and better fuel economy. The system opens and closes the throttle electronically instead of using a conventional cable.

The integrated system coordinates communication and helps maximize efficiency among the vehicle’s major drivetrain components. It also eliminates the need for a heavy, bulky cruise control actuator.

An organ-style pedal enhances the feel and responsiveness of the throttle, especially for low-speed maneuvers.

Electronic sequential multi-point fuel injection

The system enhances overall driveability and, especially, hot and cold starting capability by injecting precise quantities of fuel at exactly the right moment in relation to valve timing and piston position.
Symmetric twin air intakeSymmetric twin air intake

Dual throttle chambers and tuned intake runners provide more precise air intake, producing greater power and lower emissions.

The low-restriction design improves power output and enhances torque at all rpm by reducing back pressure.

The system is tuned to provide quiet cruising, but to allow a pleasing high-performance sound during hard acceleration.

Hmmm that's a good question. I think you have to opt for sport package to get the VLSD. But at the same, one paying 34K for a Touring model should expect a LSD in their sport coupe, right? I'll send the question to "proper authority" and find an answer.

jr370z 04-22-2009 05:09 PM

Does Sport Package adds weight ?

Anybody knows if the sport package adds weight say to the base model 3232 lbs ? If so, how much ?

toasterflyer 05-27-2009 05:28 PM

Mmm..would be nice to have the same for the 350z ..and compare the two..

:tiphat:In the first full redesign of the iconic Nissan Z since its re-introduction as a 2003 model, nearly every piece and component has been rethought or redesigned - shorter wheelbase, greater use of lightweight body materials, new engine with more horsepower and improved fuel economy, a new 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, a world's first synchronized downshift rev matching system for the manual transmission, new high quality driver-centric interior and new available technology features.

But to get the full measure of the new model, now designated the Nissan 370Z, one need look no farther than the subtle upswept line of the new rear quarter window. Quintessentially Z, the window harkens back to the original 1970 240Z - a car that revolutionized the sports car world with its unique combination of performance, style and, especially, value. The new 370Z solidifies the Z's position as one of the most desirable sports cars on the planet - at an affordable price - bringing true sports car performance to everyone.

"The fresh character of the 2009 Nissan 370Z is immediately apparent in the crisp new exterior design, which is sportier yet still immensely identifiable as a Nissan Z," said Al Castignetti, vice president, Sales, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "One usually thinks of evolution as being linear. The new 370Z's 'super evolution' builds on the best features of both the first and last generations Z-cars - respectful but not retro, simple yet sophisticated, and 110 percent pure Z."

Solidifying the strengths of its immediate predecessor, the new 370Z was conceived as an "Everyday Sports Car," targeting segment-leading performance and a base MSRP of around $30,000 (final performance figures and pricing to be available at a later date).

"The new 370Z lives in the sweet spot of performance, style and value, a position that Nissan invented with the original Z. It's an authentic sports car that you don't have to make sacrifices to own - or drive everyday," said Castignetti.

The new 2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe model is scheduled to go on sale in North America in January 2009, followed by a new 370Z Roadster for the 2010 model year.

No doubt the 370Z is the best value in today's market. Hopefully Nissan will keep it going. An improvement they could make would be seats that are just a little wider. Those Nissan designers must have very small butts.

I fit just nicely, but i'm a little guy:-)

can't complain about those specs at all. although, i'd second the fact the vehicle is a bit heavy at 46/54 weight ratio and 332 ponies. but that definitely isn't a complain.

2010 specs vs 2009 specs

Greetings,
thank you so much for the specs in pdf. I am thankful to have just purchased a 2010 coupe and wonder if there are any differences in the mechanical specs such as final drive ratios or automatic/manual gear ratios or ?

thanx in advance,

cheers,
Bill

antbear 04-29-2010 08:56 AM

Willie,

When I bought my 2009 the sales manager said the only diff. between 2009 and 2010 was a little more memory in the navigation system, nav. weather added for 2010 and yellow was no longer available for 2010 models.

Sith 05-06-2010 10:21 AM

Does GT pack include LSD?
