It really came down to me not wanting to sink the majority of money into a car. Not to mention a car that sat in the garage most of the time. I wanted something that was fun, stylish and less costly. I'm loving the CR-Z to be honest. The speed really is not a factor when I purchased. Whole user experiece is. That being said I have a great time in the CRZ and think its a better suit for my application. Which is the only person who matters in the this case. So Yeah I made the right choice. That and I do plan on have 2 DD's instead of 1 sunday and one DD. Family is on the way.

mick 12-06-2010 11:05 PM

wow.
in 2012 honda will produce a 200-hp CR-Z that will go from 0-62 mph in 6 secs. that's only a second longer than a 370z

nicknick 12-06-2010 11:27 PM

Umm, I just googled a CR-Z and I can see no reason good reason to swap a 370Z for one.

I like it looks good.

m4a1mustang 12-07-2010 08:17 AM

It would look less ricey without the wing that we all know it doesn't need. :icon17:

The thing is, when you ride sportbikes all the time, even the Z isn't particularly fast.

Who knows.

so true. When I got my bike license earlier this year and rode my first bike (06 CBR 600RR), the Z lost its speed appeal.

honestly, I love hondas. I had an RSX type S for a few years and went from 40k miles to 110,000 miles without anything but oil changes, and it NEVER gave me an issue. My brand new Z has been in the shop about 6 times for stupid crap... wheel bearing, all four rotors and pads, rear hatch, axle bolts, a fingerprint in my clear coat, alignment.... and now we have an oil consumption TSB....

I baby my Z.. .I drove the piss out of my RSX... so this kind of makes sense to me.

edit - Honda transmissions are also super smooth... I cringe everytime I go into 2nd gear, ever since I had my 350z...

kenchan 12-07-2010 10:17 AM

spitfire is a honda lover.

Ken, put that wing from the last page onto one of your Fits. I'll borrow my daugther's Fit and we'll race (legally, of course!) and measure the tremendous downforce you'll be scoring!

I used to love Hondas. I still love mostly all 92-00 civics/tegs and s2ks. Transmissions are the best in the industry (manuals) autos are garbage. Now I'm a nissan lover. My Z is absolute quality, nothing wrong whatsoever.

To each his own, drive the car that's right for you. As long as your not trading for a frecken SUV or Truck, then I would be so dissapointed.

I don't know, the Honda might win that fight. The Z won't have enough torque to get off the line in 3rd. :icon17:

kenchan 12-07-2010 01:52 PM

if we're racing down a canyon i am 100% confident my modded FitS will beat all Z's. :p

i watched an episode of top gear where a ferrari, a lamborghini, and a maserati from the 80s were soundly beaten by a modern diesel econobox driven by the stig :)

Mick, you spoiled my secret! You see, I AM the Stig! (well, I wanted to be for Halloween. I was going to wear the costume when I raced Ken :ugh2:). But the I remembered his Fits are "S" models. My daughter's is not. Those sport wheels and foglights mean huge HP gains!.

haha. there was one episode where a current brazilian formula one driver beat the time of the stig with the same car. at first, he didn't even operate the stick shift well. he told jeremy clarkson that he had not use a mt for while as his personal car and race cars were all automatic. he got used to driving a mt quickly :)

TongMan 12-07-2010 03:48 PM

I guess getting into the nismo Z was way over your head, so you're taking a loss and getting the CRZ. But it's just fail going from your Z to a CRZ becuase you already have the Fit.

that's wat i was thinking too. plus honda's having very poor sales of crz, accord crosstrainer or watever it's called, and insight.

Honda CR-Z: 122 HP, 33 MPG, Worst Of All Worlds

kenchan 12-07-2010 08:57 PM

Lol 33mpg.... my supercharged MINI with 80 more hp was 33mpg...

optiontrader 12-07-2010 10:12 PM

I liked the look of the CR-Z when I passed it once in the parking lot on foot. Did a walk around, and it's got nice styling. Not sure I'd buy one, especially hearing the curb weight and knowing the power behind it. Maybe a test drive would change my mind?

mdbrich, you said you wanted to "have fun and go the extra mile" - got it; but you also said "I needed an auto"? Why not a base Z with an auto?

Where there any other reasons you chose the CR-Z, and things you didn't like about the Z?

Probably the only thing in my case for such a downgrade would be to free up some $$$.
