if i were u i woulda waited for the ft-86 .... >.> congrats on the downsize

tonybui 11-16-2010 11:24 AM

I like those CR-Z but would never trade in my Z, I on the other hand would love to add.

However, I can understand the route you took !!

kenchan 11-16-2010 11:37 AM

yah, FT86 should be fun to get and should compete well with the honda....

be like FT86 vs CRZ = AE86 vs Accord wagon carrying a bed. :rofl2:

m4a1mustang 11-16-2010 11:44 AM

Hmmm. JDM bed is small, so very little aerodynamic or weight penalty for the Accord.

If OP ever gets tired of the extra mileage he can always swap in a K series motor. :) A few more dollars in addons and he'll be hanging with the big boys in no time.

Theres a bunch of factory, non-Mugen, body parts and spoilers that make the CRZ look a little more aggressive. The Mugen kit is aweful.

elmz 11-16-2010 01:37 PM

The CRZ's are nice, I've seen some really clean fixed up ones on the Internet. I have been considering this myself. Good luck!

Vegitto-kun 11-16-2010 02:12 PM

you bought a car from the company that is the cause of all this hybrid ********.

damn

sonic370 11-16-2010 07:35 PM

i'll trade my 370 in when i get tired of the drop dead good looks, when it gets old having strangers stare at it,oh and did i mention the handling and the sound of the engine going thru the revs. then i might trade.for a new one:driving:

Red370 11-16-2010 09:50 PM

whats with everybody trading their Z's in on cars that are in a completely different class? guys trading in for SUV's, Crossovers, Hybrids.... hell, at least trade for something comparable in the power department! no hate on the CRZ, they're cute little cars, but man, i'd go effin nuts taking a power hit like that!

It's not so bad. I went from 350 horsepower to 145. True, I plan on buying another sports car next year, but every car has it's "cool" attributes.

You can thank the government and stricter standards for emissions, fines, etc. Don't blame Honda for trying to get ahead of the inevitable curve. They also kept Nissan on their toes with the S2000, which the 350Z was most comparable to in most aspects, regarding the cars available at the time in that price range in that market segment. Maybe you should thank Honda?

Well people's lives change, their priorities change. They get divorced, married, have a kid or a dog, lose their job, move across the country etc. That's why I like the Jag, sure it corners like a train, but 0-60 it's about the same exact speed as the Z, and gets comparable mileage too.

Oh I have no idea. I'm sure some people have sold their cars and not said anything, others just stop coming here after they sell. But the car has been out for almost two years now so I would imagine there will be more churn in the future.

Rui Z 11-17-2010 01:07 AM

If Honda would have stuck closer to the smooth lines of the CRZ concept, I would have bought it over the Z. But it was too different. Also, power and mpg was lower than I expected. But it's still a sweet looking car, and in my top 5 under $25K car list.

Slowly but surely more dbags from my350 will start filtering in... i've noticed alot of Nismo guys are getting rid of their cars, which is sad because the cars will be a collectors item down the road. And unfortunately with everyone trading their Z's in now, the depreciation rate will surely increase, just in time for Joe Dbag and his job as a fry cook at McDonalds, to now own a 370Z:shakes head:

The Z depreciates pretty fast and at an original MSRP in the low 30's for many models/trim levels is not an exclusive car. The only thing that keeps more hicks from owning them is the existance of the Camaro and Mustang. There is no "barrier to entry" with the 370Z, just more traditionally appealing teen-mobiles and hick-wagons.

And if this bothers you about the car you own, you've got issues.

Got news for ya. The Z is not a porsche. It's not a vette. It's not so expensive that it's exclusive or rare. Why did anyone buy a Z assuming that this would be the case?

Like Convert said, you can buy one in the low 30's.

And the Mustang will soon be the same.

I'm lucky I live where I do. No one here wants a Mustang, so my car is rare!

:bowrofl:

I live and work in the two richest counties in the US, so naturally the Porsche 911 is the most popular car here. If you can't afford a 911, you buy a 350Z or 370Z. I see probably 10 370s for every 1 5.0. I think I counted 11 370s on my way to work today. I probably see 50+ 350s in a day. :icon17:

shoopajae10 11-17-2010 10:55 AM

damn, so the 370zs are like honda civics around your neighborhood?!

Yeah. The DC Metro area is kind of isolated from the rest of the US. Our unemployment rate is only around 6.5% due to so many government jobs and it's just a very rich area. 8 of the 10 richest counties in the US are in the DC Metro area. Our pizza delivery guys drive brand new 335is. :icon18:

ProfessorDave 11-17-2010 10:58 AM

Z count on the work today = 0 (although there are at least 2 350 coupes, 2 350 roadsters, 1 other 370, and 1 300ZX in the area)
Mustang GT count = 4 (does the new one say "5.0" on the side, older ones say "GT"?)
CRZ count = 0

So that proves it...

I can count!

Further reinforcing Ken's initial impressions. Lots of smart people. :icon18:

m4a1mustang 11-17-2010 11:00 AM

Yeah, the 2011s have the 5.0 badge. 2010s just say "GT."

I see a few 2010s but most of the Mustangs around here are V6 models or older GTs. I admit, there are a lot of V6s around, but as far as the 5.0 goes... they are very rare.

Mainly just posers. There aren't many enthusiasts around here. It's all about image. If you're not rolling in a Benz, BMW, or Bentley you're nothing!!! :icon17:

I probably see 5-6 Bentleys on my daily commute. :icon17:

Haha, sure, keep telling yourself that. Whatever makes you feel better.

Just kidding of course. I totally respect the power of the five point oh. Not to mention what it's capable of doing on a track as well. I just hate how common they are (just Mustang's in general, thanks to the low starting price for the v6) and their style isn't really to my taste either.

m4a1mustang 11-17-2010 11:11 AM

Haha, it's all relative. I think if I lived in an area where they truly were all over the place it might get annoying, but I just like the car so I'm happy. Though a spider has taken up residence in the car so I might sell it and get a GTR.

Get a CRZ. It's also three letters.

Now that I would support!

I have grand dreams of owning a 2012 GT-R, but I'd really need to get a daily driver since I wouldn't want to put 70 miles a day on a GT-R. One day perhaps.

I'm sure I'll own a GTR at some point. I just need to get use out of this car before I move on. I got 1.5 years out of the Z so I figure I'll do the same with this then probably spring for a 911 variant.

hey, at least one thing good came out of this. :icon17:

mick 11-17-2010 03:52 PM

to me, a 370z nismo is more desirable than a CR-Z

however, two CR-Zs and about $5k probably would be more desirable than a 370z nismo for most people :)

sonic370 11-17-2010 05:56 PM

let me see honda or 370 hard choice!!!

in my area honda's,mustang and camaro's are like ants there everywhere...

imho the 370 hell even the 350 is considered rare...

i'll give it to a camaro it will turn heads..nobody looks at mustangs there everywhere.. unless it's a shelby cobra saw and heard one today badxxx
