Said goodbye to the Z today

Yup, after nearly two years I went to the dealer and traded it in on a 2003 Jaguar S-type R. It's the supercharged model with 400hp. And because I had a lot of equity in the Z, it's paid for! It has 65k miles on it and it got a clean bill of health when I took it to a euro mechanic today. The Z was a great car and I will miss it a lot, but I won't miss the monthly payment. We want to refinance the house to a 20 year loan with these low rates and that's about how much the monthly payment will increase....

Don't worry I plan on sticking around and keeping the OGs in line.

Sweet car. Not a Z, but sweet nonetheless.

6spd 11-12-2010 10:44 PM

good strategy. gotta hand it to you, if only more people thought along those lines... im far from a jag/ford/brit fan, but it is pretty sweet!

370zproject 11-12-2010 10:45 PM

should gone for a gtr but u went for the ghetto car least that what those are here ...>.>

good luck with you pimp car

maybe buy a maxima ?

we still love ya

6spd 11-12-2010 10:47 PM

^^drunk??

Pushing_Tin 11-12-2010 10:48 PM

LOL it may be ghetto ($60k new) but it's paid for! I'm 35 so I don't need to be cool anymore. It was a good compromise and it's different, just like the Z was. I'll only keep it for a year or two and look at something else. I doubt I'll buy new again, the 1-2 year depreciation is crazy on any new car.

I DESPISE my local Nissan dealer. They can burn in hell, fukkers. I also do not like FWD, so I'm happy with a 400hp RWD car that I own. :tiphat:

gotcha go unlocal like i did drove 3 hours to get my z :)

CBRich 11-13-2010 05:48 AM

The Z is a great car but paying off a house is not a bad idea.

ChrisSlicks 11-13-2010 07:07 AM

Sorry about the Zloss. At least you have some nice lux to ride around in for a while, hope it's good to you. Probably will be refinancing myself pretty soon, not ditching the Z though.

Junior370z 11-13-2010 11:05 AM

Refinancing your home is a smart choice! Don't worry the Z bug will bite again lol! Maybe you'll find a another out there someone else might be selling in the future.

Nice jag by the way!

ProfessorDave 11-13-2010 03:10 PM

Good luck with the Jag. Do you find yourself saying "shag-you-ahr" when you mention the new car in conversation?

IDZRVIT 11-13-2010 03:43 PM

I hope it doesn't break on you. Jag repairs are through the roof.

nogoodname 11-13-2010 03:46 PM

Damn... thought you were going to get a Mustang ....lol

Educ8r 11-13-2010 04:06 PM

got rid of mine too!

frost 11-13-2010 04:10 PM

Seems like a very responsible decision mate, good luck on the refinance!

StLRedrider 11-13-2010 04:18 PM

:iagree: :iagree:

Great time to refi, and 20 year rates are great, 15 are even better, but sometimes that's a stretch on the payment. I'm with you, it RWD or AWD for me, NO FWD, hate it. Good luck on the Jag

PapoZalsa 11-13-2010 04:32 PM

Another one bites the dust...

Ditto. Buddy sold his S-Type after repairs drove him nuts; both amount of times and cost. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

I've seen the late models driving around here (normally in the more "well-to-do" parts :tiphat: ), and I like where Jag's heading.

kenchan 11-13-2010 05:49 PM

Op-isnt that a taurus in disguise??? :icon14:

Yeah but I found a reputable mechanic with his own small shop with rates that are about half of the dealer or larger shops. I took this into consideration when I bought it, but it checked out clean and since I'm (for now) saving $500+ a month if a repair happens it won't be a big deal.

Love the new Mustang, but I wanted to drive something that I didn't have to pay for and not obsess about every chip, swirl or scratch.

I was not aware of a Taurus with a supercharged engine making 400hp driving the rear wheels.

kenchan 11-13-2010 06:06 PM

Oh ok, im not too fam with fords/JAG relation! Good call. :icon17:

sonic370 11-13-2010 06:31 PM

Good luck with the Jag. Hope repairs don't eat you up....
Still think you will miss the Z in a couple of months though.

good luck with the JAG, I drove an XJR once and it was disconnected for my taste but it did haul. The S type is quite smaller so it will handle better. I am not sure , do they have the same engine in the S type

Oh you guys have no idea. I get VERY attached to cars and get very sad when I say goodbye to them. To some people cars are just transportation, but to me they are members of the family and each one is unique. I will miss the Z terribly, but it was a smart financial decision and I still have 400hp with RWD, so all is not lost.

No doubt, aside from the power these cars are incredibly different. I will say it was nice driving to work and not hearing the tire roar and water noise. :ugh2:

Pushing_Tin 11-13-2010 07:54 PM

You can call me a douche, but I think that Taurus looks nice! I don't think it has RWD though. It either FWD or AWD at 360ish HP.

Yah that Dollar/Euro conversion is going to snap your neck more than the supercharger will.

Nope but it is a Ford, lol. Actually a Lincoln LS, same platform, reworked by Jaguar. And it almost as fast as a 370Z!

I think the g8 was better looking and had more power than a sho, along with being rwd.

m4a1mustang 11-13-2010 08:21 PM

Sweet ride, man. Don't listen to the haters. An ALTIMA over an S-Type, really? :icon17:

Smart decision for sure. Enjoy it! I'll see you in a BOSS in a year or two. ;)
