As sad as it is to see a 40th hit...it only looks cosmetic. Find a notable body shop in your area and get it fixed!
Did the air bags even go off? |
Wow, Rui Z, I'm sorry to see that. Hope you're ok along with any passenger you had. Damn, dude.
|
This frustrates me to no end. Being one who was almost killed by an old lady in a Caddie I definitely agree with you on the Exams every four years. [they should be free btw, no need to tax the old folks too much]
I love this thread. You share your accident story and then offer to sell the car. That's not something I see everyday. lol :) |
Wow another 40th damaged...
I feel for you! |
You were going 10mph? How fast was SHE going? Some serious tearing there of your front body panels.
Hate to see a 40th hurt... |
ill take the seats... and the door panels!
|
ill bid 5 dollars!
glad to hear your ok |
ill also take the windshield washer tank ..
|
BTW I'm 68

BTW: I'm 68 and I own a 370 a X-Runner and a Bimmer and wait until your my age and I'll bet you change your idea about exam's |
Sorry to hear about the car. I guess I won't be seeing that sexy 40th anytime soon on Jamboree. If you do sell it, are you planning on gettin' another Z or something else?
|
why didnt you move your car ? are you just stopped in traffic with that truck having no idea your chillling taking a picture of your car ? lmao
|
did she run?
|
looks like a shark took a bite out of it. I know what you mean about a repair, but honestly, that isn't really too bad. All of those panels and the hood can be easily replaced since its just bolted on. Have it replaced with genuine parts and she'll be good as new. It really depends a lot on which repair shop you go to. You should at least consider researching for a high end, high quality body shop that can do the job well, unless of course you don't mind taking a hit from the resale value (no pun intended).
|
You could always get insurance money and buy a Amuse front bumper or any other one your interested in. Take it to a positive look :tiphat: As for resale price, it shouldn't really matter unless your one of those who has money to spend on a new car every time a new model comes out.
|
its not that bad tho
|
Seibon hood, Amuse bumper and MR Works fenders! :tub:

67 really isn't that old. i agree that at a certain age seniors should be tested to ensure they can see/hear and have all the necessary awareness to drive. however, i don't really think that at 67 you should have to be taking a drivers test every 4 years, just because you are 'old' even though i dont think 67 is OLD. its not young, but its not like 80. people who are in their 70's that don't let themselves go, are often in pretty good shape in both mind and body. it isn't really until 80's where things start to deteriorate. but either way, if you stay active it prevents deterioration of the mind and body.
i think at 65, people should have to take an exam to evaluate their sight, just a simple physical to evaluate their senses. at that point, they are either cleared till they are 75 if they meet all requirements, and if not, they have to get tested in 2-4 years again t and ensure they are fit to drive. |
PCH & Balboa in Newport Beach is a terrible intersection, I've seen too many close calls in that in exact location. I think it has to do with the differing speeds of cars merging from each direction.
If you're looking for a shop to fix it this thread may be helpful: http://www.the370z.com/southern-cali...ne-so-cal.html Good luck with the repairs!! |
Defiantly agree!!!!
Rui Z sorry about your car.
Last year I had a little old lady run a stop sign and almost hit me in my week old Z. It was so close that I thought we had at least traded paint. She didn't even see me and kept on going like nothing happened!!! I stopped so hard and fast I stalled my Z. If I hadn't seen her when I did I would have defiantly hit her. |

I doubt age had anything to do with it, she was either distracted or has a history of running reds. |
67 is not that old, and your car suffered cosmetic damage that the insurance company will fix. Peh. :icon14:
|
It seems like those 40th 370z are bad luck. I've seen quite a few of them invovled in accidents. You should have moved your vehicle to the side of the street becuase you are obstructing traffic.

That really blows man. I really think you ought to just get the car fixed and keep it. Perhaps you'll have some leftover dough and a turbo kit might be on the way. The accident is not nearly as bad as mine was on my black 370Z, but I feel for ya.
Having a 40th is a rare opportunity. Don't get rid of it. So what about a CarFax. As long as you own the car for the rest of its life, or at least until its paid off then you'll be able to sell it to anybody. A dealer isn't going to give you more on a trade in for having a 40th. It's not even an option on kelly blue book. You'll have to sell it later on to somebody on the forum or locally, somebody that knows its worth and more than likely they won't care about a carfax and most people don't even think about a carfax if the car appears as though it was maintained properly. Besides, like the other people said, it appears cosmetic. The only things that might be affected by this is the headlights, horn, and washer fluid. It appears everything else was safe and sound. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just make sure you come out on top financially with this accident. Don't just "get it fixed". You've lost time from work/school and a bunch of aggravation. Not to mention the car isn't "pure" anymore. The insurance company/old bag o bones needs to pay up for lost time at work/school. Again, Sorry man. |
Really crumby thing to have happen. Probably not an age issue though. Plenty of 16-30yos run red lights, and too many of them are drunk.

I'm speculating because I obviously don't have all of the facts, but from what you've said, it sounds like you entered the intersection when your light turned green without 'clearing' the intersection. As a car driver and especially when I'm on two wheels, I make it a habit of ensuring that traffic actually stops on their red. IMO it's a huge risk relying on the colour of the traffic light to decide whether or not I can safely pass thru or enter an intersection. I'm not suggesting that you're at fault, especially if the other driver ran a red, just saying that we all need to drive defensively and generally assume that other drivers are going to do stupid things. Glad thay you're ok (and I assume the other driver too). |

The problem is that the laws are written by the people in question and therefore will never happen. They are much more concerned with raising the age in which you can obtain a license. And if you look at the numbers, more people are killed or maimed by seniors than teenagers. |

Every 4 years? You got to be kidding me right? It should be every 6 months...
|
Sorry to hear. Yah, definitely get tested every yr one u pass 65. Hell, theyre retired, nothing to do plenty of time to take the buss. :D
But im more worried about getting hit by a 17yr old..... |
Yup, no real recourse if the other driver runs a red light.
But you know, it could have easily been an 18 year old'er in a hurry to meet her boyfriend. Then maybe you could've gotten her phone # first. :D |
Pfft, seniors. We should eat them.
|
Sorry to hear about that wrong place at the wrong time...
Same thing happened to me except i went into the store came back out and some little old lady had backed into my car. at the time it had 2500 miles on it!!!! take a couple days cool down and get an estimate. it looks worse than it is.. don't worry about the car fax..most times if the car is repaired right and taken care of it won't matter..... |
old ppl should be put down at 55 lol

FWIW, the longest light around me takes about a minute and a half to complete a cycle. It's not worth it. It's also not worth it to launch the car the second the light turns green because there's a good chance someone is trying to beat the yellow or squeak through. Guys on motorcycles get killed this way. |
