Snow drifting would be fun.. I would have to learn how to drift first :driving: I wouldnt mind driving it when road conditions aren't too bad, but what im concerned about is they spray salt everywhere. I also dont feel like getting the car dirty yet haha. I just want to keep it perfectly cleaaaaaan

It's not as if Denver is going to be covered in snow until May. The roads can be completely clear within a day or two. ;) Don't forget your clear bra.

kenchan 11-11-2010 04:46 PM

hahaha. :D im expecting some flurries next weekend. this weekend might be my last "drive" for the season. last year i got through thanksgiving... hope i make it this yr too.... :p been keeping a close eye on weatherchannel to time my last fill up.

I live a bit south of denver near castle rock. Yeah the roads are usually ok. It's usually my neighborhood, more specifically the 1st two blocks of my house.

kenchan 11-11-2010 04:53 PM

ive driven through denver a couple of times... dont you guys use pebbles/rocks as traction where we would use roadsalt/ice melt? definitely get clearbra.

IDZRVIT 11-11-2010 04:58 PM

The snow is just around the corner here in my neck of the woods.

Eric 11-11-2010 05:00 PM

We've already had some light snow already.

KainZ 11-11-2010 05:07 PM

This is why I love living in Arizona, great driving weather year round. woot! :D

Ah, yeah. I forgot. Some of those neighborhoods north of CS can be tricky and shady areas will keep the compacted snow and ice. Are you west of I25 or east? I spent a lot of time in Colorado Springs. I miss those roads! :) I used to race around Garden of the Gods in the middle of the night. [race is a loose term, I had a slow car :)]

cab83_750 11-11-2010 05:28 PM

Is there a way to filter out threads? I mean I live in Socal and I don't to see threads about snow and sh!t! :)

Sorry about Mother Nature "snowing on your parade".

P.s.,

my kids are snow bunnies!

ProfessorDave 11-11-2010 05:28 PM

Playing golf tomorrow. In a week or two, I'll be clearing some significant amount of snow off the Z, I'm sure. I really can't understand why there aren't more physical attacks on weather people (not that I'm advocating that...maybe just throw something at your TV. Something soft of course. Or just hurl insults).

Effing weather.

Atlanta FTW!!!! I don't think I could handle storing my Z away all winter

I'm more north of colorado springs. About a HR away. and GARDEN OF THE GODS... i'll definitely have to take some pictures up there in the summer. Red Rocks is awesome too.

I've been to Colorado Springs on business trips and loved that place, especially Garden of the Gods and the town on the other side …good food!

Snow on the roads in Colorado should mean dry powder in the hills?..yes

I love the cold and even liked digging my car out of snow drifts. I'd take the cold over 100+ heat any day. :)

CrownR426 11-12-2010 01:52 AM

I've been driving my z for the past winters with my stock rims and wheels.
And man have I mastered the control lol!
I know I should be getting snow rims and tires but I've learned so many things about this car being my DD.
Do not try to snow drift unless you have experience!!!!!!
I almost died one time lol!
Thank God for E braking...

If it makes you feel any better I live in Baltimore and bought my car this past January pretty much exactly a week before we got hammered with 4 feet of snow in a 4 day span. Needless to say my car sat for a little over a week before I was able to get out. I plan on purchasing some snow tires this season. The one good thing that came out of it is I really know what to expect out of the car now in those types of conditions, which isn't much.

I drove mine with Blizzaks all winter and it was A-OK. It's not as fun with snow tires on (turns into a granny car...might as well be a Versa). Looking the car over this past spring, there wasn't much corrosion anywhere to be found. Your car won't fall apart if you drive it salt slush. Just do what I did and give the undercarriage a good rinse once or twice a week.

kenchan 11-12-2010 10:04 AM

if your car's pretty much stock i wouldn't worry too much about the salt. it's when you got aftermarket camber kits, springs, coilovers, bolts, etc. that corrode VERY quickly at times.

ive had very bad experience with tein and tanabe springs in the past where the paint just shattered off the coils from maybe 2months of heavy salt driving in the winter time, shaft threads corroding, etc, etc.

antman22 11-12-2010 11:08 AM

Eh, I bought mine and it snowed 2 days later...i still drove it around...worked out too, because it forced me to keep it under 4000rpm :)

no i dont believe so, whenever we have ice and sleet, they usually put sand down...some areas i've seen trucks putting down some sort of chemical compound, not sure what it is, but i guess helps melt the ice. so, by the end of it all, nothing is corroding your car like salt does, which i think they use a lot of up in the northeast?

that's cool. the snow melt crap they use here seems to corrode metals faster than salt. :icon14:
