To actual "the370z" MEMBERS with Stickerz.........How much horsepower gain did you all get when you actually paid for MEMBERSHIP???? I'm going to get mine, and when you get NEW membership do I get the NEW logo 370 design???

Its a relatively new concept this whole "stickercharging" thing. Its like turbocharging or supercharging, but way better :)

It was a lot. All I know is, it was over 9000.

And please quit the bitching... for those that want to go faster, just go buy a another car then! :shakes head:

There will be another car faster than the one you have, always! ;)

I 100% agree with you.
even the buggati veyron has a hard time keeping the fastest road legal production car title.( the ssc ultimate aero) so then buggati says lets make the buggati veyron supersport to beat the ssc's top speed and succeeded; now theres an upcoming ssc ultimate aero 2)

it really is; get what you pay for. and what you want to pay for.

Nitex 11-10-2010 04:15 PM

^^ while i agree with what papo is saying.. No one is really bitching, but discussing our deceptive power band, and cars that you wanted that are faster. But you settled on the Z, and why? It has been a fun discussion, and i think we can all agree that the Z is undeniably a bargain for what you get.

I loved my Z and am happy to have had the pleasure of owning one! :driving:

Oh come on now. Those SRT-4's are the best cheap speed I know of. They run 11's@120+ with just a few cheap mods and I have only seen one break at the track. It was working again by sundown. Definitely "cheap" cars, but cheap fast cars with good drivelines.

Back in the day (yes, I am old), sports cars weren't expected to be muscle cars too. This concept is relatively new. I had a Triumph Spitfire that was lucky to do 0-60 in 12 secs and on an upgrade would lose speed in top gear. However, it could corner flat at any speed I dared drive. There was a whole generation of sports cars that raced inside different classes that had horsepower limits. Since my last sports car was a 240Z, which was big fun to drive, but not a powerhouse, I was a little startled to see my 370 packing 332 hp. The 0-60 is plenty fast for me. I have the AT and it has a great downshift. If I floor it, I find myself over 5,000 rpm and the AT doesn't upshift until redline. Major fun.

I also agree that the car is going much faster than I think when I am not looking at the speedo. Typically, I find myself at 85 or 90 when I meant to go (cough cough) the legal 70. Taking turns at speed gets the heart racing. I keep waiting to feel understeer cut in and instead I just stick to the line. That is amazing! Yes, there are many faster cars. Lot's have better acceleration and top speeds. But for me, at least, nothing I have driven is more fun than my 370 (2010).

Your 240 existed during a time where "power" meant a clunky V8 that would destroy a cars balance unless the arse end weighed so much that it balanced it and then the car wasn't very "sporty" in the corners.

With the advent of advanced materials (fiber-glass, carbon-fiber, etc) and V8's that are lighter than V6's, (BMW's 4.4L, for example, weighs several kg less than their former 3.0 in the E46, respectively, and the LS7 only weighs @450# fully assembled), "light" sporty cars are expected to put down enough power to do double-duty from stoplights and at the drag-strip.

Technology has allowed for the advancement of the car outside of its original class, and that's where the rub is. The "muscle" and "pony" cars have been aimed at straightline performance for years, and now the sports-car is having to learn to be fast in a straight line. Similarly, the Camaro SS and pre '11 mustang GT's were laughed at for their "poor" handling and not pulling close to 1g on the skidpad. They are having to learn how to install a suspension on those cars. Over-all "performance" seems to be the new name of the game.

I too experienced the Z accelerating "deceptively" fast on a test-drive. It got me a fly-by with the lights on from an undercover car.
I think it has to do with the wonderfully FLAT! torque curve that Nissan has managed through some tuning magic. My LS1 had a similar (but not as flat) torque curve and it felt slower than my LT1, which hit more like a hammer. I raced a few LS1's (again, in my back-yard) with my LT1, and am here to say that is not the case. Even cammed LT1's couldn't hold a candle to the LS1 based on my experiences. There is a lot to be said for how far Nissan has stretched the life-span of the VQ. It makes me think of GM's 3800. For what it's worth, none of the 3 370's I was in or drove had any "high rpm harshness" that the magazines get after them for. I don't even know what that term means, really. They didn't like the exhaust note, I guess.

And if you can afford the price tag of that car the maintenance costs wouldnt matter.

I don't know, man. I used to say that, but think about it. If the person is paying cash, I agree with you. If financing, maybe, maybe not. I know I could not afford a blown engine/transmission on a supercar if I was also paying a note on it.

then you shouldnt be owning a car you cant maintain. But if you can afford a 100K car, even if making payments then paying for scheduled maintenance not repairs that are covered under warrenty shouldnt matter.

Well, if you can just spring for a $20K transmission next month, sure, buy a GT-R out of warranty. I just don't know many people who can.

I am not talking about brakes/oil/etc. That's not under warranty either except for BMW's 50K thing.

Well according to recently medical journal, the average human carries an average of 35 lbs of $hit. So keep if your fat a$$ take a dump and there is one of your weight reduction. Then do some freaking exercise! :ugh2:

I have gained roughly 2.5 horsepower in the last 4 years. I am proud of my weight reduction.

Also, are you sure it was 35#? I thought it was 10#. 35# of **** would be like 4 milk-jugs full. My abdomen is nowhere NEAR that big, lol. Much less with room for all the other organs. Then, I doubt I hold 10# of crap. Lots of people don't eat right/are lethargic and don't have a BM every day, though.

the trrend i am noticing is indeed trying to improve 'all around' performance. Sports cars are getting more power, and muscle cars are getting better suspension and handling. In the end, i think the consumer wins. a mustang will still be a mustang at heart, but it will be a better handling, more balanced mustang. A Z will still be a Z at heart, but it will have more power.

m4a1mustang 11-11-2010 08:16 AM

Everything is just coming together. Muscle cars that handle. Sports cars that haul ***...

Pretty soon Al Gore will take over the universe and smelt our cars, forcing us to drive Leafs.

While he still flies his private jet and leaves rental cars on in parking lots for hours, of course.

Dude. How rude/tacky can you get? You know this forum? On the Internet? Al Gore invented the Internet. Without Him, you couldn't spurt your opinion on the Internet. Insulting the man via his own creation. SHAME! A new low! :roflpuke2:

I think this is part of what makes someone an enthusiast. If you've ever looked at your buddy's junker with its keys in your hands and thought, "this'll be fun", you are an enthusiast. If you've been in that same spot and thought, *huff puff* "My car is better, so this will be bothersome", then you're an elitist. Note, the two groups often overlap. :icon17:

lol My buddy used to have a 1988 honda civic. He used it to do his deliveries.

When I drove that thing I really wanted to buy one for myself. I am not joking either. the car was so slow that it was funny and enjoyable. Every time I floored it the car would be the same as driving it normally. lol

Haha, those things are fun. It'd be cool to set up a parking lot race track and have a bunch of 1988 Civics racing each other. :icon17:

Heck yeah! It'll be like a NASCAR race at Bristol... except we'd be doing ~30 mph.

Depends, new they were a $50k+ car.. Now you can pick them up stock for under $10k used. Stage 3+ 20k+... I think my brother dropped 25k on this recent build, in an attempt to get to 1000crank hp.
