I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Where have you seen reports of the Z being unreliable?? |

Consumer Reports gave it a black circle. :shakes head:

never buying a nissan again. oil consumption scares, pre-mature brake wear, noisy and annoying clutch/tranny.. grinding second gear and sixth gear... clutch slave cylinder, and nissan consumer affairs suck.
I haven't had oil consupmption, but just the fact that there's a tsb for it, worries me. I want a car I don't have to worry about. My rotors are making noise now too and the car only has 12k miles on it and I barely drive it. I got my front rotors warrantied at 10k miles!!! Never had to do so much warranty work on a new car. it's obnoxious. I want a car I don't have to worry about... I just wish toyota made a sports car, or Honda made something with torque. |

Consumer Reports ratings on the 09 are all red circles except for two half black circles, one for engine cooling and one for engine minor. There is a full black circle for predicted reliability though.

If you want a car you don't have to worry about, you shouldn't have bought a sports car.

2. seriously? My car's been warrantied like 6 times for stupid crap, and oil consumption is unacceptable. BMW had an issue with their 335i fuel pump, and are actually BUYING people's cars back. Nissan would rather die than even offer. Now my REAR rotors are ******* up, when I drive the car like a grandma like 15 miles a week, and nissan won't cover them because i'm 500 miles over the warranty on brakes... because apparently brakes have a seperate warranty that isn't anywhere in the manual. Plus, I don't know if anyone saw that thread about the front bumper dent that like 90% of the cars have... I have that as a cherry on the sundae. I guess the main reason im pissed off is because I had an 06 350z.. and figured after all those oil and bs problems that nissan would get their crap together for the new model... nope :( |

oh and I forgot, don't even get me started on the paint issues.. lol you sneeze on the paint and it leaves an etching |
but hey don't get me wrong guys...
I admit i'm a little more finicky and OCD than a LOT of people.. so my gripes may not be other peoples. I just haven't encountered even a hint of this type of lack of quality control with the hondas and toyotas i've owned... ironically they were driven into the ground, too. I baby this thing.... |
Yes
I have the base model 6 speed MT. I think I purchase a car with the sports package or the Nismo.

I voted no for a couple reasons. I love everything about the Z except the engine. I'm getting really frustrated with how hard it is to squeeze power out of it. It's weird seeing people get excited about $700 mods that barely make any power. Just seems like I might be better off with a different platform next time around. That being said, I can't think of a single car anywhere close to the price range that I'd replace it with. There are so many things I love about it that I just can't find in anything else.
The other reason I said no is like others mentioned: I just would want to change it up. |

Some have scoffed at the Z's gains per dollar, comparing them to the Stang's. Can't do that. That Stang is a different animal at five liters and and an 8 cylinder. It seems the NA import engines are all highly tuned already and not much can be had by way of NA mods (M3, GT3, Cayman is the same). That puts the Z in pretty good company. The gains per dollar make me appreciate the car even more!! Like you, I would not consider actually buying any other car in this price range; I would need to move up a couple price ranges. |
Good thread .... good thread.
|
Like some others, if the Cayman S PDK was a little older so used models were more affordable, I would probably consider it.
And if you think Z power is expensive, try NSX power :D |

I voted undecided. It would be between the Evo X MR and the 370Z. I am having major back issues and it hurts to shift sometimes. With an Evo X MR the twin clutch paddle shift would make driving less painful and it would be just as good a car around a race track...just not as good looking.

I'd do a ModShack as life is too short. Next desired vehicle: Lotus Evora.

I kept my G35 5 years which will probably be the longest I keep a personal " toy " car... I had an integra first for 2 years, s2000 for 2, totaled it, and got another one ( so I was in the exact situation with the S and got another ! ) kept the new S for 1 year than traded it for the G35 Coupe when it came out, rocked it for 5 years and traded up for the 370z but I can honestly say now, after replacing my g35 motor at 105k after it ate oil its whole life, and now my Z eating oil not being the most reliable thing at 10k, If I got a check tomorrow I would prob go straight for a CPO 335xi ... AWD with a stock turbo and a warranty to 100k....
sad but true . also it would me a much more practical vehicle for New York being AWD and with 4 doors and a backseat. I love my Z but Nissan in general has lost some points with me in the last few years. Awesome value on their vehicles though as long as they stay reliable. But I voted undecided because I def am a fan of nissan designs and cars but the reliablility issues have me weary at this momment, but I think before my time is up on this planet I will own another Nissan... Especially a Z with a stock turbo if it comes with a new car warranty, lmao! |
My answer is no, sadly. After buying the Z, I soon didn't fit in it. I had grown a couple of inches, and gained some weight. :ugh2:
So now, the Z is gone, and I'm in a G37. So far, I like it much better. Less harsh, more classy, pratically the same power and tranny, striking looks: everything I wanted from the Z. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3317/img7905.png |
yup!
|
I love my Z and the interior of the touring in a sports car like this is awesome. It's fun, a little luxury feeling especially with the Navi and I could fix it up .. Most definitely would buy it again .. and some new JDM goodies
|
i may buy again not sure. depends on what the new models look like in a couple of years. and how much more hp they get. i don't think they can improve on the auto much which is what i drive, but the mt needs a major upgrade...
all cars have issues and imho most but not all are 100% owner related.... but a stang or camaro noway... im to use to no back seat,no one ask for rides..... it will either be another z or (cover your eyes) a corvette low mileage c6.. |
I did buy again!:driving::tup:

Seems the bad seats don't dissuade them. I myself am going to join the Z06 camp in a few months I think. |

The Z06 is a nice vehicle, I've driven a few on track. Even though I was intoxicated by the awesome power of the C6 Z06 I still liked the handling of the Z better. I even had a Z06 owner drive my car and he was quite surprised at how capable it was. |

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the 6m. Quickest Na z is 6m mine is 12.9 in a 6 m. The tranny Is perfectly fine! Not notchy or loud, I drive a 2008 gt mustang. That tranny is bad ours is a thousand times smoother. |

Seriously, did you even read this when you typed it? Haven't you ever met a person who has a great car but doesn't appreciate it, or maybe someone else with a real beater who loves it like a dream car? I'm sure there are Z06 owners who want a better car (faster, more prestigious, whatever), even though it's already a fantastic car. And I know there are 370z owners who treat it as their dream car. Come on, man. http://images.zap2it.com/programs/80...6_ce_h1_aa.jpg |
Come on, man! haha. nice.
