I get the feeling the OP is a bit younger.

I know my credit is pretty solid for a 24 year-old, but on the Z I am looking at, I am still going to be paying around 5% interest (on 72 month term to make the note livable) even with 20% down.

We have to start somewhere, man.

I'm 22. I traded in my 09 sentra after 10 months of ownership on the Z I got screwed on the trade in. I put maybe around 3k down but I think I financed 37-38k on a base PW Z with 9.5% for 72 months

Is the cost of living rediculous where you are? With my appartment, my cost of living per month is around $1400 where I am.

if I can pry?

well I make around 3,500 with my gf working her PT job we make around 4,300. But before I was living with her I was putting away around 1,300 a month with my 680 car note. I only paid $400 a month in rent, $80 for my cellphone, $200 for insurance. That was about it. I make around 1800 every 2 weeks. I keep 300 for my groceries/gas/and minor going out every paycheck. I rented a room in a house for 400 a month. That was all my bills. But now I moved in with my gf things get more expensive lol. I didnt plan on moving in with her for a while, but things changed and for personal reasons we moved in together.

But now I have I pay the following.

Rent-$700/Month
Car- $480/Month
GF Car 200/Month
Insurance -$130/Month
Cell Phone - 135/Month
Cable/Internet - $80/Month
Utilities - $50/Month
Personal Money - $400/Month
GF Personal Money - 300/Month
GF tuition - 390/Month
Groceries - 200/Month
Gas(Cars) -200/Month

Total cost of Living minus the personal money we allow our self out of our paychecks is $2565. My checks are always the same but my gf check vary week to week from around $170-$200. So assuming she brings in usually $170/week plus my income, make $4,132 to $4,252.

We usually don't spend all of our personal money every check so we save around 1,200 to 1,300 a month

Consider refinancing through PenFed. 2.99% for 60 months if your credit is respectable.

Will do! I have pretty good credit. Thanks!

TongMan 11-05-2010 07:59 AM

Dang 9%...it was a good idea to get rid of the Z.

Vegasboricua 11-08-2010 02:08 AM

Yeah thats what im saying. Ive had my altima a week. Can't say I dont like it. Its no Z but at least it aint no sentra or versa lol

its time to get promoted and marry your girl.

Live in the military housing for free, and a bump in pay raise for rank, will help you out.

Marry a girl...
...to save money.

:inoutroflpuke:

If you want to modify a relationship in a way that will save money--end it.

I assume you never served your time?

Getting married in the military is the way to cash in.

What would Suzie Orman say?

9% You would have been better off saving your money making a large down payment or having someone cosign the loan.

Wanting and having something are two very different things.

Served my time? I was never sentenced to any. Law abiding citizen (for the most part) here :)

I know people who are married and in the military, and I know single people in the military. Guess which one rolled cammed GTO's, modded Z06's, Tundra's, etc. and owned the house? Not the married one...

Rank has a lot to do with it.

having all those cars can easily be done. Living for free in the barracks and having most of the cars paid off.

A single man at the rank of E-2 serving will make "500 every two weeks"
A married man at the rank of E-2 will make "600" every two weeks"
then throw some kids into the picture..

now send them both out to Iraq and that married guy will make even more than the single guy.

Military street talk... You civi wouldn't understand..lol

OP is claiming @ 3500/mo.
Maybe his housing allowance is being added to his income, etc.

E2? I never met an E2, but the E4's I know that are married only made around $2200/mo when they went to Iraq.

Yep. The military life ain't no high life. Most especially for the enlisted. True, they house you and feed you, so your basic needs are always met, but goin' in the military is not a way to get rich. And it shouldn't be anyways! :)
