Cop wants to race?
Crazy situation this morning on the way to work. Twice while stopped at traffic lights, an unmarked Police Cruiser next to me “chirped” his tires as the light turned green only to slow down to the posted 40 mph limit. I let him go by and found it quite amusing. He later hit his lights and spun around to brighten someone else’s morning. Lastly, at no time did my radar detector go off. All kind of funny and weird.

Haha... probably having a good time. I know some cops will beat on their cars pretty hard because they don't have to pay for them. :icon18:
We do, though. :( Not quite as exciting, but this morning I watched a Maid Cleaning Services Toyota Sienna peel out at a light. :icon18: |
He was trying to set you up!
|
You should have pulled him over and did a citizen's arrest for laying drag...then went all Reno 911 on him for "resiting arrest".

First month of having my Z, the wife and I were sitting at a light with a minivan full of elderly ladies who were revving their engine and had the windows down trying to egg me into lighting up the tires when the light turned green. I couldn't stop laughing long enough to comply with their request.

I know it won't take out a new Z, but that could shock a few older Civic's, etc. lol |

there was a cop that gave me a thumbs up when we both accelerated in a moderately fastly motion...
|
..but then there was a trooper that used its megaphone while driving in my blind spot telling me to pay attention to what's going on around me... (wasn't speeding but did kinda blast into the expressway) :ugh2:
i knew he was there from the get go but pretended like i just landed from Japan... hai, ichi ni san. i like sukiyaki and teriyaki and... he liked that. |

Oh man. I've got stories but they're not forum friendly....
|
Don't forget that fast acceleration from 0 mph to speed limit is ground for a ticket called "exhibitionism"
wear your trenchcoat! :) |

Either that police department wrote up a ton of tickets or the taxpayers are getting hosed. I see no reason for the police to have a Z06. That money could have went to any number of better causes.

Yes be glad you didnt race him it was a set up

Many unique cop cars are impound cars they turn into cop cars.
Though really, in many places they need those cars. Houston has been stepping up its ghost cars with upgrades to combat street racers. Factory V8 is nice, but a few bolt ons and it gives the cop that extra advantage against street racers who run. |
I agree with the imounded car statemets - The only force (I know of) that bought fast cars (V8 camaros) was the Florida HP. I have read many stories of impounded street racer or drug cars being turned into undercover cars and it cost the tax payers little or nothing.
|
yeah in houston they use impounded vehicles as bait cars. you race em and their buddy is right around the bend......
********!!!! |
Some cops here would pull you over just to look and hear your car lol, they're.cool though.

About a month ago I was at a stoplight waiting to get onto an onramp to a highway, and in front of me was a blacked out Charger. When the light turned green, he peeled out and went flying up onto the highway. I got onto the highway at a normal speed, and once I got on, he slowed down in the passing lane and made me come up beside him (I kept going the speed limit). He revved it a few times, jumping ahead, then slowing down, and then floored it and took off. A few seconds later, my radar detector lit up full bars. Considering he was the only one on the highway and cops like Chargers, I'm pretty sure it was an unmarked trying to get me to race, and he flipped on his radar to see if I took the bait. Thought it was odd he completely went out his way to try to get me to do something.. So yeah, to OP, I don't doubt it one bit he was trying to do the same to you.

If you're zoomin passed them, they'd stop you. If your going about 5-10 above probably not.1 because your driving a really nice car and they think you could afford the ticket, plus too much paperwork. I always go 10 past them. I'm not afraid.

I moved to DE in Aug and commute to MD daily. I noticed a blacked out mustang in the center "utility" road that connects the north and south bound lanes of I95. At first I thought it was the same douche trying to avoid a toll or something but then I saw him with someone pulled over. So MD troopers have a blacked out stang.
On another note, I was pulled over on 95 last friday doing 81 in a 65. My honest excuse was a Prius merged on and got right in the center lane so I maneuvered around him and may have laid into the pedal a tad whilst doing this. I didn't bother explaining this to him but my 2 NJ PBA cards and he saw my DoD ID and let me go with a warning. I was very appreciative for that! P.S. he did say "370??? I've seen 350s but never a 370" LOL |
Next time one of the Nation's Finest tries to "trick" you into that...just fall in behind him (don't tailgate) and dial 911. Tell the dispatcher you're following a possible DUI...some guy driving crazy. Give the tag number and tell them you'll stay on the line with them till an officer catches up and gets him pulled over and checked out...that could be fun.
Oh, if it is against the law to use your phone while driving don't do that... |
