Lamborghini crash at the Texas mile

The Twin-Turbo Lamborghini Crash As It Happened

OUCH!

Glad he was walked away from that.

The car is definitely toast but the crash doesn't look too bad. The rollovers like that are usually easiest on the drivers as you're not transferring all of the crash energy in one or two solid hits.

Dembflyr 10-26-2010 09:39 AM

Yeah, glad to see he was ok. If you look at the other videos it sure looks like this guy had more money than driving skills.

I'd be crying for a month if I crashed my Z. I don't even want to imagine how this guy feels.

That car was just totally unstable. Here are his attempts from earlier this year. Gets unstable under acceleration and braking.

Well I bet it's as stable as a rock now....... Too soon?

kenchan 10-26-2010 10:09 AM

wow, do those cars have VDC?

RCZ 10-26-2010 10:14 AM

That's what happens when people who think tossing money in a car will make it safe/easy to go 200mph+

HKYStormFront 10-26-2010 10:22 AM

agree^^ the car was made to go up to around 200mph from the factory, putting a ton of extra power in it might mean that it's theoretically possible to go that fast but just because someone can do a thing, doesn't mean that they should lol

i'm sure it has some kind of traction control system but i don't know if it was still functional after the TT conversion (i would assume so unless they were no longer using the stock ECU). even if it had a TCS of some kind, i can't imagine that it would be able to counter the fact that the parachute ended up getting tangled underneath the car and correct for the rapid changes of direction at 230+ mph or whatever it was.

WarmAndSCSI 10-26-2010 10:23 AM

That suspension is either setup all kinds of wrong or the guy simply cannot drive.

I believe it is the bold part.

Traction control would have been disabled for maximum acceleration, I'm presuming they kept it AWD.

The comments from a bystander indicate that the parachute never got tangled, and that the car was fine until the driver got on the brakes 1/4 mile after parachute deployment.

That's what the driver said happened, but the spectator saw differently.
