Dings? I don't have any!

My 09 car is a daily driver with 21k miles. So far, no dings and no scratches.
My secret--- I always park at the rightmost parking stall or park far away. Every time I take it to the dealer, like yesterday, I always ask the service manager to walk around and make sure it is returned as-is (ding and scratch free).

anyone else is still ding free? What's your secret?

Note that I am not anal as it is only a car and fully insured. I just take pride in ownership.

I agree, i reluctantly park in public car parks and if i do i will make sure it is as far away from other drivers as possible, too many people take the " i don't care" attitude or ding other more cherished cars deliberately out off spite or jealousy :gtfo2:

I'm the same way. My car is spotless and I hope to keep it that way for as long as possible. I park just about as far out in the parking lot as I can. Any kind of end spot is always a bonus. People give me a hard time about it at work.

Beware though.... This does not make the wife (or gf) happy. You may need to drop her off at the door.

Same here,i did one step further, never drive when it rains,or the roads are wet.

This man knows women. After 16+ years with the same gal, parking still results in heavy, heavy sighs. Dropping her off at the door is excellent advice. I went 14 years without a door ding on my 300ZX, until a drunk found my parked car in total isolation, and hit it going 60 mph. This ding could not be fixed.

When my Z is not in the garage and I am up at school, I always park at the end of the row. That obviously leaves my driver's side open to dings, but I have a pact with a bunch of friends who park next to me as we all know that none of us would ever touch each others car.

In general, I have started parking far out but not all the way at the edge of the parking lot because I learned that the further you park, the more likely some idiot will park next to you. Midway out is the sweet spot in my experience.

well, I drive too much and sometimes in a parking lot at school, there's only ONE space, I don't take it, I must take the bus to ensure my car won't be ding. Knocks on wood, my car has only 1 tiny tiny ding that's not really visible and I have 12k miles so far !!

I have managed to keep mine ding free through the first week of ownership!!!

Only ding I ever got was from a guy that did it intentionally...while I was watching. All I could do to not clobber him.

Or you could get a woman who's not a pampered, whiny biotch. I won't let my husband drop me off at the door, even if it's pouring rain. I figure if he can walk, so can I. Getting one who appreciates a nice car as much as you do helps as well.

traded in my 03 g35 with 110,000 with zero door dings... was proud of that...

Ding- and scratch free car is like a newly washed/waxed car --- when you drive it, it feels like it has 100 more hp. Har har har!

Too bad I cant have Miata-doors on my Z; then it may feel 150hp. :)

Go girl, my kinda woman !!

I get the same attitude with my woman; she complaints when I do not take the 1st open spot at the mall. So, after the first 3 complaints about her having to walk, I stopped taking her shopping. When I must, I take the old LandCruiser.

Thanks, but it just seems like common decency to me. I appreciate it when he offers to drop me off (which he still does every time) but I know he appreciates not having to walk to the door alone.
