Never too old! Was cruising the other day & seen a clean white Z.... guess who was behind the wheel? Guy was at least 60-70! I just had to compliment his ride :happydance::tiphat: Small reasons why I love the Z community. Very diverse in the people who like these Japanese sports cars

Eh. I got both. A G37x on a stick would have been GREAT!

If you want a Z, buy it. Enjoy life, and enjoy driving it.

Age of Z owners

I am 71 and own a Z and still enjoy it .I would love to own a Porsche 911 ,my retirement plan can't a afford a $100,000 hit.

If you have to ask, then, yes, you are too old. ;)

I rally enjoyed the 370z.

In my case I have a friend that has a Lambo ,.. tells me the same thing about my Nismo.

I'm 58 yrs old, in 1994 I bought my first Z a 300ZX, in 2009 my 1st 370Z Sport and last year before I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer I bought my 2016 Nismo. I do not care what people say ... so this year I'm going to enjoy it.

BTW, people do not pay my bills!

Zyonara91 02-27-2021 11:36 AM

You know I'll chime in again.

Thing is most people work from a early age. Mortgages, kids, food on the table and the list goes on. Having a nice car is NOT a priority for 99% of people and there are other more important things up on the list.

When someone says "mId lIfe cRisSis" it pisses me off. So you're making fun of a man or woman who worked their *** off to support their kids through uni, pay off their mortgage and now that they have the disposable income and time you're busting their balls? Right makes sense. Then you look at what they drive... I mean I don't care what you drive, but if you're going to dish out stupidity then I won't feel bad when you're told off.

Mid life crisis? What crisis? I have disposable income and like cars/motorcycles. I am fortunate enough to get a good education and more importantly a good job off the bat, not many people have this luck and their life circumstances are more daring and they need to allocate funds to necessities only.

I remember when I bought my Z and I rolled into the Z dealership to grab stuff. I bought mine second hand private, not new, I needed some new lugnuts. Anyway, I roll up in the parking lot and a salesman says "nice car, daddy buy it?" I was going to punch his teeth down into his throat so that he could enjoy some chicklets. You don't get to make brash statements when you do not know someone. I told him that his mom bought it for me for being a good side fling. His face went red and told me to get off the lot, I told him to suck it and proceeded to parts.

All in all, your money, your rules. Enjoy whatever car you want whether it be a Z, Ferrari, Porsche, Stang, Miata, Mini or Beetle. I have more respect for those who buy what they want and rock it with confidence.

The only time that you are too old for a Z is when you're in the grave.
Of course, at that time it's not a matter of age.

Taking a dirt nap. Or when your expiration date has expired.

Your health record has been cancelled. That's when I'll be too old for a Z.

My dad is 53, I am 19, I got my car 3 years ago and he loved it so much. 1 year later he got a white 2018 Z. and he has done a few mods, nothing like mine but some stuff none the less. I love cruising with my old man and going to the mountains to rip. trust me, never too old.

Red-Hat 03-04-2021 10:05 PM

Nice 11 year old thread. :D

Never really understood 'am I too old for...' questions re vehicles. Can you afford it? Do you like it? Can you get in and out of it? Can you still drive it safely? Do you have fun with it? If yes, then you are never too old for it! Life is too short to worry about what other people think. As long as you are not hurting anyone else, do what makes you happy.

stephens1 03-08-2021 05:59 AM

Nope. Not too old. I'm 65 and own both a 300ZX and a 370Z. Never wanted a Vette... But I will admit, there are some young punks driving Z's, but that's the same with Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. Always bigger, better and faster...

The only drawback is sometimes nearly have to fall out of mine to get out of it!!

danegrey 03-08-2021 12:51 PM

just have to add, I have gotten so many laughs out of this thread...

Yes, of course you're too old, send it to me and I'll put it in my Z stable where it can frolic around with my N1SM0 Z

You’re not too old. I’m 69 and have a 370Z Roadster, 1973 240Z (I bought new), Porsche Cayman, 1956 Cadillac 60 Special. Enjoy it! They don’t make a hearse with a luggage rack!

street2soul 03-27-2021 11:43 PM

your porsche friends suck ***

ZoomZ 03-28-2021 12:01 PM

Kinda off topic, but not. Watching the 2021 Barett-Jackson and seeing a lot of Corvette and Mustang. Ok, I get it, it's Americana but **** me their getting boring.

The AM DBS, 1967 Ferrari GTB/4, some really nice Camaros and who can forget the Iconic Superbird!! (btw, I'd take that Ferrari over the $5M Shellby anyday based purely on looks.)

Seemed only old men where buying the Mustangs and Vettes (exception: Kevin Hart bought his Vette for $750,000!!)

Anyway, being 50, I would never sit in something so plane and mundane as a Mustang. Makes me look and feel older. For nostalgia? or Gargage queen? maybe.

The 2007 Porsche GTS3 RS (orange/black) went for $200K but even for it's age, it exuded youth.

The Z still turns heads and I applaud all the mods people are doing to make them unique.

I predict the bottom is going to drop out of the classic American muscle car scene within the next 10 to 15 years.

The people who will pay big $$ will either be dead or not able to drive anymore.

I loved my old chevelle and could totally see myself getting another someday, but I wouldn’t pay more than 50-60k for a good one, #s matching big block, maybe $100k but wouldn’t want it cause I prefer resto mods or tweaking and building it to my taste, with #s matching 426 hemi cuda for example, you don’t own it, you’re just the car’s current caretaker and you can’t do anything with or to it since it’s so special.

The same could be said for ice cars in general. I wonder if anyone will value them in terms of bringing big $$ in say 2050 when we’ve fully transitioned to electric for at least a decade.

Cliff notes: imo, cars are a terrible investment long term, it’s a commodity that will most likely become not desirable within the next 2 decades.

Think some cars will become like artwork. Instead of hanging them on a wall. They will be the center piece of a room.

It’s kinda already like that, it’s one rich old dude showing off how rich he is by overpaying for a nice old car and they just compete amongst themselves. A lot of the really high end cars seem to change hands within a distinct circle of people or collections.

This isn't much of a prediction... it's just generally normal. Cool cars are worth a lot when they're 40-50 years old because 50 to 60-year-olds who have disposable income buy up the cars they wished they could have had when they were 18 or 20. Once they're 70 or older, they're not usually in the market to pick up old cool cars anymore. (Yes, maybe some old folks keep their cool car and drive it, but I'm talking about active buyers driving up market prices.)
I mean, that's something I've heard before from someone else. But it makes sense. And it fits for me also. I'm 50, and think late 60's or early 70's cars are cool. But you could never get me to put down any of my money on a 50's car. They're just not cool to me, I guess since they already seemed old when I was 16. Anyway for an old car, I sooner be after a 300Z or '90 M3 instead of an old musclecar.

Good point. Definitely a generation thing. Maybe that's why Mustangs or Corvettes don't appeal to me. Like I said before, I feel old even sitting in the new 2021 Models.

Yep! I'm 65 going on 22. Unless I over do it. Then I feel like 85.

Plopping down in the driver's seat of my Z immediately subtracts 50 years.

I figure I'll be too old for a Z in about 60 more years.

PuttPutt 04-24-2021 12:36 PM

OP should be 63 now

Hope he is tooling around in his Z being a badass. I turn 60 in two weeks and I look damn good in my Z. At least I like to think so!

The real question is "Am I too young for an auto swivel seat"? :icon14:
