I've no doubt that the new Camaro will out-perform a Z (although only somewhat slightly) in a straight line. However, where I live we have curves and I don't believe the new Camaro will outperform a Z on a twisty road even though I'm sure the handling will be quite good.
There are sacrifices made with the kind of weight the Camaro is likely to carry especially with the higher HP powerplants and the beefing-up that's needed to make a vehicle actually handle that kind of HP safely and reliably.
