I do like the new look and performance of the new stangs... But I could never get pass the hideous interior. I could never buy a domestic IMO...

And I just drove it home tonight in some torrential downpours and it was just fine. Again, no worse than the Z.

The reason the back of the mustang is not as good looking as the rest of the car is because the ford designers didn't want to do any favors for people like him who will certainly be looking from that angle when on the road with one.

I know this much... the stangs increased performance is only shown on the track. Take that POS live axle on the road and take a turn too hard and you are all over the place. God forbid its raining, that's pretty much a suicide mission with every block you drive.
Generally the stang is annoying cuz its just everywhere. That style has been in production 6 years. They sold around 100,000 a year. Between the 93-04 models and the 05-up models mustangs are utterly annoying.. I give them props for being the only sports car to stay around aside from the vette. But, I just could be part of the eternal sea of cheesy looking mustangs on the highway.
I'm sure the performance is top notch though and on track day u r sure to have loads of fun. I just hope the op has a real car for the streets. Cuz the stang outside of a track or well paved highway road sucks.

the live axle in the current 'stangs is actually really well set up. It handles bumpy roads, etc perfectly fine. The downsides of a live axle are totally overblown.

Granted, in the past they were worse, but still... people seriously overestimate the downsides...

I have a 1994 Toyota 4x4 with 164,000 that starts every time I turn the key, I HAD a 2009 370z with 24,000 that wouldn't start.

Yes I gave the Z a chance, I owned 2 of them but I plan to never purchase a Nissan again. That's that! If that upsets or offends anyone then you have issues.

g'day erm uh g'nite

That is the reason why I did not buy a Mustang or Camaro even though I wanted one.

Brian40 10-01-2010 07:26 AM

Prior to buying a 370z, I was very close to purchasing a GT. But ultimately, the body style made it a no go for me. As much as I wanted to embrace the look, I just couldn't and decided to pass. Congrats on the car and good luck.

:iagree:...What once was is no longer. No worse than my Z or my C6 Corvette before it. Myths die hard (especially on car forums....:ugh2:)

Look, skidpad tests, slalom tests, and even actual track results mean nothing compared to a fanboi that has identified a difference between his product and yours, better or worse!

I'm just not getting all the hate for the Mustang. Seems like a nice car to me if you are in the market for a muscle car (don't flame me too bad!)

damnit its the Z or nothing and thats final. All others cant compare no matter the performance or the price. The Z IS the best bag for the buck, PERIOD.

I'm not gonna lie. It's a great performer. But I'm also not going to refrain from lovingly teasing my Mustang friends about the hillbilly/redneck connotations of owning said vehicle. And they will not refrain from teasing me about my pretty Datsun.

Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking.

It'll always be the same people who have no actual comprehension of cars. I believe the term is, "wannabe's".

i think what this really comes down to is people getting offended that someone sold a car that they have. there is no need to get so butthurt because someone else decided that, after owning a car YOU love, they don't really like it as much, or likes something else more. i think some fanboys here read 'sold my Z for _______' as 'Z's suck, i got rid of mine, anyone who still has one sucks too'

Best of luck with the new stang, sorry to hear about all your Z issues. As for myself I think the mustang offers great power and potential but its still a Ford and Mustang, dime a dozen that all look the alike with cheap looking interiors, and my experience with Fords has been far from impressive. I practically could have bought another vehicle for what was spent in repairs. You might be saying the same about Ford in 30K miles or less. I've had three nissans, and while dealing with nissan as a dealership/organization can be a pain, I've had thousands and thousands of trouble free miles thus far from all three vehicles. Hope you enjoy the new car.

sonic370 10-01-2010 08:14 PM

Good luck with the stang.... enjoy the rear axle... you'll have lots of friends to wave to on the highway.... let me know what you do with the back seat.....

but i would like to try out the ford sync and the v8
