Government coming up with new laws main purpose isn't to make the roads safer. It's more income, especially when the Canadian Government are owing billions in debts.

The 40km/h or 50km/h over law doesn't makes sense at all.

Example:

Traveling 150km/h in a 100km/h zone (who hasn't done it?); that's 50% over the limit

VS.

Traveling 90km/h in a 40km/h zone (Never done so in my life); 125% over the limit.

If caught in either situation, you are violating the same law.

The law is like, you killed someone; you get the chair. You stole a loaf of bread to feed your family; you also get the chair.

Penalties for 50km/h over:

Towing charge: $250.00
Impound for 7 days: $700.00 ($100.00 a day)
6 demit points: max. $10K fine
Insurance: priceless. :tiphat:

Forgot to mention that 20 over is reckless driving in VA. Yeah, the radar pisses me off, that is why I can't wait to get the hell out of this state.

The majority of speed limits were set back in the early 1960's, before ABS, traction control, and a whole host of advances in the last 40 yrs..
Man, driving on our modern hwys., going the posted speed, the greatest risk is nodding off!

So is this why canadians have so much disrespect for U.S. traffic and speed laws???
