IMO the Z with a 380-400hp turbo or V8 would be ideal at it's price range...then it would be in corvette land.

I'm going to bet that like the M3 Nissan will downsize the engine and make up for the capacity loss with turbo's or superchargers...
3L Direct Injection v6 with a turbo would be fantastic... |

It makes perfect sense. Smaller displacement=less fuel consumption, higher compression=better efficiency. Direct injection allows this. When you think about it it is the best all around solution.

I would rather see a slight reduction (destroke to increase redline) in displacement with two small turbos and direct injection. Keep compression high for power and small turbos for rapid spoolup.

Nissan is always listening to what the people want, however they find a way to get it to you in a "cost effective" form. Most likely, whatever the uprated Altima and Maxima get is what will make it's way into the Z. And Maximas and Altimas are selling like hotcakes............

my perfect engine will be a VQ37VHR but with downsize rods to 3.5L, with turbocharged direct injection, ufff sex...
