Dude, your an individual, and as a whole, I would hope that there are people like you with 350's I used to own a G35. I was an enthusiast of the G35 then and NOW even though I'm on the next G... truth is though, on a general level, the culture has changed and the values are different. Nissan has been most affected due to the amount of press its gotten in the last 7 years.
I know when I lived in NY, workin in mahattan. Those yuppies were ball lickin, bimmers all day n didn't even know what they owned. They just saw its shell and BMW self professed motto of "the ultimate driving machine". When the G came out, then they wanted a infiniti, not knowing it was just a glorified Nissan skyline. 50% of buyers go into infiniti dealerships not knowing its part of nissan. If you don't know this you are chasing status and not a cars history of performance.
I don't look in any mirror and hate on any car. But truth be told. The new enthusiast in general takes the fun out of being an enthusiast. I blame it on over involved media first. Then I blame it on consumer ingnorance.people are just not renting and test driving various cars and finding out the truh. They look at distorted media hype, and make brainwash purchases.
I also own a 3.5 altima. You should see how many people are shocked when I take a group out in my car n I'm driving on the highway. People look at altimas and think. Oh, family sedan. Then you drive one or ride one n u think, damn, its a sports sedan. The media never sells the altima as a good sports sedan. But if you never gotten in one and beat it up, you'd never know? My altima is capable of taking 48mph, 90 degree turns with me driving it. The few times I tried it, I blow myself away. Try that in a honda accord? It ain't happening without borrowing a second lane on the approaching street.
So I'm just generally sayin. Learn how to drive. Get those true skills in a regular car. Then enhance those skills on a track first before getting in a car u r scared to drive if 20 computer programs aren't running to keep you safe... Learn how to drive cars with and without saftey programs, cuz at the end of the day, having those skills will save your life. Also having those skills at the end of the day builds you into being a better enthusiast instead of being a one sided fan boy. When driving sports cars. You will have a more objective outlook of its true performance by enhancing those skills.
And lastly, don't hate or look down on the next man. No matter what car u own. But truth is, the generalization is woefully true. And it sux.

I agree...except the part about the accord...it's also a damn capable car.

If you are in a 370 and the other guy is in a 350, he may think you are boasting about having the newer and nicer model rather than signaling a common interest.

Try a thumbs up instead of a wave I guess.

On a somewhat related note, if you let someone merge into traffic or whatever, and they don't offer a quick wave in appreciative acknowledgement, that seriously pisses me off.

sonic370 09-12-2010 07:26 PM

If someone drives by you in a 350 and your driving a 370 and they don't wave back it's called penis envy :rofl2::rofl2:

I raised him from the dead because he owned a Z. When he didn't wave upon waking, I re-murdered him.

im sure i saw 350z's yesterday during the drive but they all blended in with the background so didnt notice any.

I flash my lights at all Z's. And the other day I got a light flash from a 350Z. First time that ever happened :shakes head: I was in shock and almost went off the road trying to raise my left hand to wave before he went by and thought I had snubbed him :icon14:

I also got a flash from a 350z the other day, and it was two young kids prob in HS. But mostly 350s give me dirty looks, a lot of older guys too. Half of em in my town used to wave to me all the time in my 350 and even g coupe just not the 370.

Urbanracer 09-13-2010 06:23 PM

Last week I saw two Z's, a 350 and a 300, I gave a thumbs up and got nothing from either of them, then over the weekend I saw a 55+ year old guy in a 58 el camino next to me and got a thumbs up from him.

is it just me or what

my last car was a 350 when i had it i loved it. and was on the 350 boards.
will say though that the 350 forums members are a different breed if you catch my drift.

every time i come across a 350 on the road as i did on my commute home today
they won't even look over and give you a glance or anything.....

i mean you would think a glance or a wave........ just wondering if any of you come across this when a 350 comes your way......

i mean guys with motorcycles, vettes even when your on the water in your boat
you will get a nod or wave... didn't mean to ramble...

Bucketlist2012 06-12-2012 09:15 PM

Strange...I have never been a hater...I had a 350z and never hated 370Z's...

Motorcycles and Muscle cars and especially boaters , are extremely nice..

You would think Z car owners would be too...Haters will hate..

bdavis89 06-12-2012 09:24 PM

I hear ya, only I get the same thing with 370z owners as well. I'm not sure if they're being jerks or just not paying attention, but I never seem to get a look from a fellow 370z owner around here. Makes me sad lol

mdxj 06-12-2012 09:38 PM

I know I have snubed a few people who wave but most of the time that has been because I flat out don't see them wave till the last min. My windows are up most of time and I never have time to roll them down and try and wave back. if they are already down and I notice that there is another Z coming, I will try and wave at least. My windows are always down in the jeep, no ac, and I am going a lot slower so Its a little easier to wave at another jeep. Being a lot taller and actually seeing whats coming helps too! I did have a rolling conversation with a 350 while I was in the Jeep though, he wanted to know what was done to it.

I had a guy driving a new GT500 stop next to me while I was at the gas station and tell me how much he loved my 350. I thought he was being an ***, as he was not very old but he was serious and we spoke for a little while. It was pretty interesting.

cossie1600 06-12-2012 09:47 PM

Shouldn't cars be like clothes? If you see someone driving the same thing as you, don't you want to go as far away as possible?

MacLean 06-12-2012 10:37 PM

"Where is your enthusiasm..." In my pants............. SERIOUSLY. All day & all night.

buddyZ 06-12-2012 10:42 PM

I dont know about you guys, but i cant stand people who stare at me when im stopped at a light, its like mind your own freaking business. People mad dog way too much these days.

sonic370 06-13-2012 07:56 AM

or it's just a sign of the times. you know it's all about me.....
and there may be places where a wrong look could turn into road rage..

i'm showing my age but back in my youth you took it out to the local drag strip.
every town had one. even if it was a stretch of highway that was marked off.
heck ours had paint marks on it marking where to start and stop. if you lost you took it like a man and limped on home, or said next time..

but those days are long gone as they should be..

hell if you honk your horn at someone today you are guaranteed a one finger
wave for sure..............

I broke my girl Vanity in past her break in this past weekend. I chose only highway miles to break her in. I was driving on I-10 near Sealy,Texas this past weekend and saw a black 350Z, he had Volks on it, Stillen exhaust, looked real good. While cruising about 80 he and i were coasting down the two lane section of the highway together, while smiling he exited and gave me a wave and a thumbs up, i threw him the deuce and a smile of course. A true appreciation for the Z car was represented this past weekend for me based on my experience this past weekend. I mostly see 350Z's not 370Z's but they too are not common, but when i see a 350Z they just stare, no nod, thumbs up, deuce, or anything ( last weekend was the only exception) . Not every driver appreciates the history, heritage, and craftsmanship of the Z. Also, in this economy most people can't jump in a new car every 2 years like they were before the recession hit, another reason why some hating is going on. Speaking of people jumping in leased cars every 2 years, i can remember back when i was tired of seeing Porsche Boxster's on every corner, leasing was way out of hand before the recession hit. :driving:

I don't have this problem where I live. ALl the 350's wave at me going by. We all have a secret respect for each other on the road. Havn't seen a young person driving one though, so maybe that's where I'm messing up.

Yeah I am sure he just wasn't familiar with the nomenclature. When I first had my 370 back in 2009 I had a lot of people asking me if it was the "new 350" since that's what most people knew a Z to be.

blackcherry20 06-13-2012 09:07 AM

I would just be happy to see another 370z...I'm waving like a fool now at anything that is cool-new mustands-old ones-vettes-happy to be driving a hot car!

m4a1mustang 06-13-2012 09:09 AM

Instead of waving I am going to start doing jazz hands

kenchan 06-13-2012 09:11 AM

Our Z club meets usually include some jazz hands and limp-wristing. Comes with the territory. :icon17:
