car is leaking a clear substance, need help!

Hey everyone,I purchased a 2009 nismo few days ago, odometer had 15 miles on it, it now has 400. Anyways, after about a 25 minute drive, I get into my garage and turn off the motor. Then I hear a bunch of crackling noise underneath my engine along with a small thudding/clicking sound for about 30 seconds. I then look under my car, and see a clear like substance leaking in the middle of my car, but a tad more to the front. The leaking is coming from one of the pipes that lead into one of the exhausts, I think it is water, the temperature of it is kinda cold, but not freezing. I was using the ac on it as well during the 25 min drive, is this normal?

The crackling sound is just all the metal cooling down. The liquid maybe water condensation from the AC. Taste it! :P

shumby 07-10-2010 08:45 PM

lol the noises are normal the "leaking is water that has condenced on your AC . you are fine.

rmorrow 07-10-2010 08:49 PM

Sounds like condensation from the A/C. Condensation dripping under your car from A/C usage is a normal occurrence. I have never owned any car with A/C that did not drip condensation underneath the car. The 370Z runs really hot. I believe that the snap/crackle/pop/tick/tick sounds after driving the car are normal. Mine makes these noises all the time after I have turned the ignition off...especially after long drives.

fullmonty 07-10-2010 08:59 PM

The noise is the car cooling down and is normal, and the water is from the A/C. No worries dude

blue660r01 07-10-2010 09:07 PM

Hey has anyone mentioned to him that the water could possibly be from the AC?

i think the stuff said before about the AC, and that sound ur hearing should be on most cars. at least all cars ive owned ticked after shutting off. something about hot metal parts cooling down and *shrinking* at different rates (for different metals).

errett 07-10-2010 09:38 PM

Was the VDC off?

Pharmacist 07-10-2010 10:14 PM

check the fluid, if it's watery it's the ac like everyone said. if it's oily it's a leak.

fullmonty 07-10-2010 10:15 PM

Its the VTEC

m4a1mustang 07-10-2010 10:19 PM

btw, the OP's post has the makings of an instant classic.

Trips 07-11-2010 02:32 AM

If it's watery, it might have the Runs?

didymus 07-11-2010 03:17 AM

Have you owned a car before?
It is probably crystal pepsi, they use it in the factory oil cooler..

You don't say?

dirTy_shoeZ 07-11-2010 01:22 PM

lol....daaaaamn :shakeshead:

VCuomo 07-11-2010 03:48 PM

I don't know about anyone else, but I think it's water condensation from the A/C.

Now that crackling noise bothers me - sounds like the alumium block is starting to crack. I think he needs to change the oil. What oil do you guys think he should use?

:)

yea if you want a thread to be taken more serious you need to give a good title, not one that begs for our smart *** comments. But it is fun.

As a urologist, I can tell you that it's normal. You just pushed all the right buttons on your car and you got her warmed up.

sonic370 07-11-2010 07:53 PM

that is all normal. water from a/c.
crackling noise is a cool sound though in a closed up garage.
the sound of speed cooling down.

Sir please leave your fapping for outside the vehicle, thank you.

billydsz 07-12-2010 08:12 AM

Son, sometimes when your car meets the right kind of road and it's driven really well, magic happens. It's all totally natural and nothing to be ashamed of. Just be sure to drive safely.
