Front plates
Typically, the answer that the state troopers in Ohio give is that the front plate bracket isn't just a revenue collecting law, but it does serve a purpose. Supposedly, you are required to have it since more and more states are going to laser speed detection instead of old K and Ka band radar and they need a flat spot to aim the laser at. That being said, most cars these days aren't square enough to have many flat spots to aim at, so we are likely to see more and more laws requiring front plates over the next couple of years.
So, in the end, it's still just a way to take more money from you. I personally would rather be fined for no plate than to have it on there and make it easier for them to get me for speeding :driving: |
Put my Stillen front plate bracket on today. No holes and I can spin it on or off quick. I love it!

Clear Bra: It really all depends on how much you want to have done. On the $600 end, you'll get the bumper, about 14" of your hood, and some trim pieces around the fenders. I had the entire hood, full bumper, full fenders, A-pillars, and mirrors done for $1500. Another member had all but his rear bumper and roof done and spent around $2400. It all depends on what you want, and how good your installer is (you'll pay for the piece of mind knowing they do good work).
Stillen Plate Mount: I might be wrong, but most people are dropping the money on the plate in order to have it easily removable...this way if you're ticketed, just spin it on to show you've corrected the problem for state inspection, then just pop it back off... |
You suppose to put loctite so it doesn't become lose with the vibration. ;)[/QUOTE]
The loctite goes on the bolt that holds the mounting plate to the shaft. That way you can grab the font plate and spin it on or off quickly without the use of tools. |

LOL.. and for parking reasons, as others have stated. Yes, this is the one item that we sell that most people do everything they can to not use.. and would be much happier never putting it on.. :roflpuke2: |
