Tow company is responsible for the damage. Your friend should call Nissan Roadside Assistance to report the incident. Any authorized company they use should have received documentation about jacking, tie down points, tow hook locations, etc.

I had something similar happen with another car. You have to watch these guys like a hawk when they work on your car, unfortunately.

Definitely do this stuff on your own. It's not difficult, gives you a sense of satisfaction that it was done right, and empowers you.

Also, consider buying one of these: BlackJack Tire Repair | The Leading Manufacturer and Worldwide Distributor of Tire Repair Products
They're awesome and you can repair a puncture in under 5 min. The plugs vulcanize themselves to the tires. I tracked my car at Road America with three of these plugs in the rear tires. No problems.

Honestly changing a tire isnt that difficult. Even with two people with problems, between the two of you, it could have been done. Not trying to be insensitive.. it just seems like this could have been very easily avoided. Hope Nissan helps your friend out, but if history repeats itself, they most likely wont.
