Not to be a jerk but around here if you even bump somebody in the rear your gonna end up paying dearly for "whiplash" to the other driver/occupants.

whats up guys the vdc was on. a car ahead of me went around the car i hit that was about to make a turn and once the car ahead went around i didn't have enough space and time to stop it was an up hill road and i could see the car ahead of the car ahead of me. no texting im usually a safe and responsible driver but i guess it can happen to anyone. just bummed out about how all of it went down. the car that was responsible for the accident had already driven off after the smoke and all the crap from the airbag went away.

Please dont blame another car for you rearending someone, that is totally your fault as you were driving too close and not paying attention. Just take responsibility for your actions, get your car fixed and drive safe while having fun.

steve i was driving up the street there was a car in front of me i was a safe distance behind him going about 40mph he didn't slow down or brake and just went around the car about to turn and at that moment i saw the car stopped in the middle of the road and didn't have enough time or space to stop. I am obviously going to be held responsible for the accident i know that. I was paying attention I just wasn't expecting to come to a complete stop given that i did not see the car. I hope you understand my explanation. I just came here to share my story with all of you thats all.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 02:42 PM

and steve please don't assume. the driver of the car i hit saw what happened we just couldn't get any info because of the shock and how sudden it all was.

Why are people dumping on the Op? shit happens sometimes!
Nobody got hurt and its nothing that can't be fixed!!

craniac24 05-30-2010 02:45 PM

Definitely not a total loss...doesn't even look like there's frame damage. A good shop will make the car good as new again. Don't buy into the whole "my car will never be the same" bullsh*t. It will be just fine.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 02:45 PM

thats what I'm saying triple i don't know whats wrong with some of you out there?

Hello there! I notice you don't have many posts, so let me save you the trouble by saying that you should just let this post die. There are people here who live for posts such as this one, who must fill the burning need of telling someone else how stupid they are. You have been warned!

Trust me Im not mad at ya and we all want to know of these things and you can get some good advice about it too on what to do where to go or not go etc. But you hit the car from behind and that in itself makes you responsible for atleast your car, see what the ins company has to say but Im sure you will be responsible for your car if not the other car too. Its all about seeing the big picture when you are driving and yes this can and will most likely happen to alot of us. And like weve said its fixable so you will be back in it soon and having fun and will be a much better driver because of this.

I'm not going to slam you or anything like some of the others, but I will say that you should always be ready for the possibility of needing to come to a complete stop (within reason) at any given time. You just never know what the hell some moron in front of or near you might do, so you have to be a defensive driver.

In the end though, don't worry about it too much. It sounds like no one was injured, and you have insurance. The car will be fixed up and will be as good as new again. Life is one big learning lesson, and hopefully you've taken something out of this incident (and it sounds like you have).

After having a few front end wrecks, it is a good possibility that it is near being totalled. The front end of cars are meant to crumple when in a front end collision and cause massive damage. I wrecked a Celica years ago and it didn't look nearly as bad as yours does and it took the estimator about two minutes two total it. There is a lot of internal damage done when the airbags go off also, let alone the price of just the bags, which ain't cheap.

We could all speculate all day long, but your best bet is just to let the insurance do their thing.

Glad you're okay OP. I can picture the situation that you are talking about and it's a crap shoot at best. I've had the exact same thing happen but was able to avoid the accident. Not because of any amazing driving skills, just pure reaction that thankfully was correct. Just file it away in your "in case this happens again" file.

nolan1016 05-30-2010 04:21 PM

That car in front of you must have swerved at the last second. If you have sport breaks you should be able to stop on a dime.
