Wrecked my Z!!

1 Attachment(s)
Well guys I have had the car for a couple of months now less than 4,000 miles on the odometer and I get into an accident. front end is damaged pretty bad the air bags deployed luckily no one was hurt besides my Z what do you guys think is going to happen? I posted a pic it really hurts to look at!

SoCal 370Z 05-30-2010 01:27 PM

Are you okay? Your Z will be assessed by your insurance company and they'll let you know how matters will proceed next.

wolf41779 05-30-2010 01:28 PM

Sorry to hear that. Looks like you may have rear ended someone? Take it to your insurance approved body shop and pay deductible, and youll hopefully see the car in two weeks. Insurance premiums will for sure increase upon renewal.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 01:28 PM

hey socal yeah im fine i was just shocked at how fast the whole thing happened. part of me is hoping its a total loss. this car will never drive the same ever again.

Seriously, it's just a car, one among many to come, your health is by far a better investment. The fact you came through unscathed is the biggest upside to the whole ordeal.

well from the looks of it you rear ended someone so your ins is going up. But that is not as bad as it looks, it can be fixed fine.

Its wierd I have heard of more Zs being wrecked in this forum in less than a year than I did in 2+ yrs in my last cars forum. Im thinking the avg age of a Z driver has alot to do with this due to the price of the car being affordable and it having alot of power that younger drivers seems to be getting into trouble with, not that this one had to do with power or speed as I dont know what happened.

Trips 05-30-2010 01:32 PM

Glad to hear your fine.

i did rear end someone and luckily no one was hurt. my air bad deployed and the car wasn't drivable i'm concerned with hidden damages under all the body damage and would hope they consider the car a loss.

UNKNOWN_370 05-30-2010 01:44 PM

Looks like C&D brake failure... lol. Glad your ok but you gotta be a way more responsible driver. I hope you weren't texting, on the phone or doing some stupid sh1t like that? God knows how many times I almost got hit or had to swerve or pull some maneuver in order to avoid being t-boned, rear ended or sideswiped by some idoit playing with a phone or nav system while driving. I'm gettin tired of it and road rage is about to set in. Jail might be in my future.

steveg78 05-30-2010 01:44 PM

I doubt it's a loss. How fast were you going? Looks like all the parts that were designed to crumple, crumpled... I think it looks a lot worse than it actually is. Hope it works out for ya.

Zsteve 05-30-2010 01:46 PM

Was vdc off?

Yea I need a EMP gun so I can disable those kind of drivers.

Not to be a jerk but around here if you even bump somebody in the rear your gonna end up paying dearly for "whiplash" to the other driver/occupants.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 02:31 PM

whats up guys the vdc was on. a car ahead of me went around the car i hit that was about to make a turn and once the car ahead went around i didn't have enough space and time to stop it was an up hill road and i could see the car ahead of the car ahead of me. no texting im usually a safe and responsible driver but i guess it can happen to anyone. just bummed out about how all of it went down. the car that was responsible for the accident had already driven off after the smoke and all the crap from the airbag went away.

Please dont blame another car for you rearending someone, that is totally your fault as you were driving too close and not paying attention. Just take responsibility for your actions, get your car fixed and drive safe while having fun.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 02:40 PM

steve i was driving up the street there was a car in front of me i was a safe distance behind him going about 40mph he didn't slow down or brake and just went around the car about to turn and at that moment i saw the car stopped in the middle of the road and didn't have enough time or space to stop. I am obviously going to be held responsible for the accident i know that. I was paying attention I just wasn't expecting to come to a complete stop given that i did not see the car. I hope you understand my explanation. I just came here to share my story with all of you thats all.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 02:42 PM

and steve please don't assume. the driver of the car i hit saw what happened we just couldn't get any info because of the shock and how sudden it all was.

Trips 05-30-2010 02:43 PM

Why are people dumping on the Op? shit happens sometimes!
Nobody got hurt and its nothing that can't be fixed!!

craniac24 05-30-2010 02:45 PM

Definitely not a total loss...doesn't even look like there's frame damage. A good shop will make the car good as new again. Don't buy into the whole "my car will never be the same" bullsh*t. It will be just fine.

sjilzian 05-30-2010 02:45 PM

thats what I'm saying triple i don't know whats wrong with some of you out there?

Hello there! I notice you don't have many posts, so let me save you the trouble by saying that you should just let this post die. There are people here who live for posts such as this one, who must fill the burning need of telling someone else how stupid they are. You have been warned!

Trust me Im not mad at ya and we all want to know of these things and you can get some good advice about it too on what to do where to go or not go etc. But you hit the car from behind and that in itself makes you responsible for atleast your car, see what the ins company has to say but Im sure you will be responsible for your car if not the other car too. Its all about seeing the big picture when you are driving and yes this can and will most likely happen to alot of us. And like weve said its fixable so you will be back in it soon and having fun and will be a much better driver because of this.

I'm not going to slam you or anything like some of the others, but I will say that you should always be ready for the possibility of needing to come to a complete stop (within reason) at any given time. You just never know what the hell some moron in front of or near you might do, so you have to be a defensive driver.

In the end though, don't worry about it too much. It sounds like no one was injured, and you have insurance. The car will be fixed up and will be as good as new again. Life is one big learning lesson, and hopefully you've taken something out of this incident (and it sounds like you have).

TreeSemdyZee 05-30-2010 04:15 PM

After having a few front end wrecks, it is a good possibility that it is near being totalled. The front end of cars are meant to crumple when in a front end collision and cause massive damage. I wrecked a Celica years ago and it didn't look nearly as bad as yours does and it took the estimator about two minutes two total it. There is a lot of internal damage done when the airbags go off also, let alone the price of just the bags, which ain't cheap.

We could all speculate all day long, but your best bet is just to let the insurance do their thing.

Glad you're okay OP. I can picture the situation that you are talking about and it's a crap shoot at best. I've had the exact same thing happen but was able to avoid the accident. Not because of any amazing driving skills, just pure reaction that thankfully was correct. Just file it away in your "in case this happens again" file.

nolan1016 05-30-2010 04:21 PM

That car in front of you must have swerved at the last second. If you have sport breaks you should be able to stop on a dime.

NYBladeZ 05-30-2010 04:23 PM

Ouch, doesn't look like a total loss though hopefully parts are readily available but kiss a good part of the summer goodbye with the Z.

pauley 05-30-2010 07:14 PM

Maybe it's mental but cars never drive the same after major accidents. If you have'nt modified it alot just fix it, sell it and get another.

PapoZalsa 05-30-2010 08:57 PM

Glad you OK! If the insurance "total it" I hope you have Gap insurance.

You could buy it back after the setttlement and sell a couple parts out of it too. ;)
