I'm calling an alarm shop tomorrow to find out about a viper installation. this car isn't staying outside overnight until theres an alarm and wheel locks on it.

coqui 05-27-2010 08:42 PM

At least they were kind enough to put bricks beneath the car instead of dumping it on the ground. Criminals may be scumbags but they show compassion for nice cars!

Nice has little to do with it. They did the same thing when they stole the wheels off my brother's Sentra 5 yrs ago. It has more to do with the convenience of using bricks as a jack and then leaving them there for a quick getaway. The thieves are there for the wheels. What do they care about damaging anything?

Jeffblue 05-27-2010 08:49 PM

yea i don't think its a matter of nice. its a matter of them trying not to get hurt while stealing what keeps your 3000+lb piece of metal off the ground out from under it. trust me, if they could yank the wheels off and have the car fall to the ground, crushing the rotors etc and NOT get hurt, they would.

Red370 05-27-2010 08:54 PM

wow, didnt the last Rays wheel capers come from NY as well?

Sorry to hear that.... hope you find that no-brain attached guy who took the wheel out of your Z... Seeing that make me go any auto shop and grab some wheel locks to prevent that kind thing..

The wheels locks for the 370Z rays are different than the 350Z. They have a chamfer edge instead of being flat, you put the wrong ones and it will eat your rims up.;)

gauchowr 05-27-2010 09:31 PM

I hope that a-hole rots in hell!!

BoostAddict 05-27-2010 09:48 PM

Damn, sorry to hear about your wheels...and to happen to such a new car too. Seeing stories like this frustrate me b/c I can certainly relate to what you're going through.

chuckd05 05-27-2010 10:04 PM

get this .... My boy who lives in suffolk just got his TWO FRONT WHEELS stolen three days ago..

these fn scumbags have some pair... I pray to catch those f cks in front of my house.. They better have there air bubbles pumped up in there shoes when I come outside...

the cops need to be made aware that this is pretty much a " serial " group of scum bags stealing wheels here on Long Island...

this makes me so insanely angry... the " rim reaper " dudes were all locked a few months ago, I bet they are out and back at it...

so lame

dude ur two rears made a set for them because they got my poor friends front wheels... fn ridiculous!!!!

hopefully the detectives are back on them asap and arrest these scumbag wastes of lifes.

chuckd05 05-27-2010 10:17 PM

I have been parking 4 inches away from my girls car in my driveway... One backed in , one regular, this way both our passenger sides are within inches of each other so that rules out stealing the wheels , unless they get in my car and move it back.

Its insane that I even have to do that to feel semi safe about atleast 2 of my wheels being there in the morning.

I have pics of my buddies car and it looks exactly like yours, except they took the lug nuts... they even unscrewed his bulbs on his house by his car to stop the light.

It is such a cowardly thing to do... But even when you come out if they are at your house, know they have wrenches and prob bars from the jacks, so they could become armed robbers if confront them.

Crazy crime for a measly 1,000. I hope these scum bags are caught ( again? ) ASAP

billydsz 05-27-2010 10:23 PM

Like someone else said it's easier to write speeding tickets. I had a Mustang GT get stolen in front of my house (Suffolk County back in the 1990's) and the cops found the car the next week stripped on the side of the highway. They never lifted a finger to find out who did it. They didn't even pretend to try. It's so easy to catch these guys too, just leave some hot car out under surveillance in a high crime area and follow them after the crime back to the body shop (that's who is behind 99% of car theft on LI) and arrest everyone involved. But it takes a tiny little bit of effort and it's just easier to eat donuts, point the radar gun and harrass people on their way to or from their job.

fairladyZ34 05-27-2010 10:28 PM

wtf, i hate seeing sh1t like this happen cuz id say most people on this forum are deserving of their Z through hard work and respect the car and people have to ruin someone else's property like this

DRoc7822 05-27-2010 10:29 PM

I dont know whats crazier...the fact that they took them while the car was parked in your driveway or the fact that they only took the rear 2!! Weird *** theives these days!

Jeffblue 05-27-2010 10:39 PM

hey does anyone know if our wheels are uniquely idenifiable in any way? i am trying to work with the police b/c i found the craigslist ad

fullmonty 05-27-2010 10:51 PM

I thought this thread was a bump for the guy with the white Z. I open up the thread I see a black Z on bricks just like the white Z. I scroll back up to see if you lived in NY like the other guy and you do. That really sucks man

pauley 05-27-2010 10:57 PM

You need 3 things:
1. wheel locks
2. alarm with shock sensors
3. firearm
Alarm goes off then Bang-Bang!

HKYStormFront 05-27-2010 11:02 PM

OP that sucks! sorry to see that. i've had stuff stolen out of my truck before and i know the feeling of violation that comes with it. good luck with getting it fixed back up. people suck. get that thing in the garage asap!

lol @ landmines and a pet tiger

Gee 05-27-2010 11:14 PM

I know that feeling when you first saw it - a mixture of disbelief and furious p1ssed offedness. (years ago I had parked my pride and joy mazda under a bridge while I was at work and they smashed the window to get the radio...)

ppl who do that stuff usually have sh1tty lives and are losers. You are a winner.

.

Jeffblue 05-27-2010 11:33 PM

i'm trying SO hard to work with the police. NOT to get my wheels back but to BUST these people so they don't steal from anyone else. i googled this guys number that he gave me to contact him once i saw his craigslist posting
370z wheels

i googled his number and i found all these listings for these wheels:

Asanti 24 inch rims
g37s rims
volk rims w/drag radials and falkens up front
chrysler 300c srt8 wheels
Audi A8 wheels (march 12 listing)

I told the police that i had found a list of other wheels that were for sale and was hoping to cross reference it with a list of recent thefts, but the detective on MY case isn't there right now and they couldn't have cared less. i tried to explain i'm trying to help get criminals off the street, not try to get my own wheels back. i pay my deductible i'm done. i dont want it happening again to me or anyone else again!. i will call the detective back in the morning

Gee 05-27-2010 11:35 PM

Actually, thinking about what happened to you, I bet this is the scenario -

some other 370z owner , probably within no more than 10 miles or less, has banged up their own rear wheel(s) and has been cruising around looking for 'replacement' wheels on the cheap - hence why they only took two as thats all that they could fit into their car or needed. A crime of opportunity - as they didn't even have their own bricks to hold it up, a seasoned operator would'nt leave that to chance.

I bet its someone you may even have seen driving around in your area, maye to/from their place of work or ??

waddya reckon?

Jeffblue 05-27-2010 11:39 PM

I think that they are trying to be a little more sneaky and not taking full sets to cover their trail. i am pming with another member who's wheels were stolen and his friends FRONT wheels were stolen like 2 days ago, now my rears=full set=craigslist for sale.
I see it like this.

Ive got his phone number tied to a whole bunch of wheel listings
i find out from the detectives whether they were all stolen within a recent time period in our area
i haven't touched the lugs that they left with my bare hands, i grabed them with a nearby microfiber buffer head and plopped them in.
If it turns out all those other wheels were stolen, and his prints match any partial on my lug nuts, we have our guy.

HKYStormFront 05-27-2010 11:43 PM

sounds like a great plan but i would be surprised if they went to that much trouble... least from my experience. of course my sub and Zune were not worth as much as wheels...

yea i understand what you are saying, but your sub and zune are a different kind of issue. people will always smash windows/steal things from inside a car if they are left inside. the key is not leaving valuables inside the car. this rim stealing thing, its a real problem on long island/new york metro area, and its very systematic and planned. there are groups of people and they do it many times over and over to entire neighborhoods etc. its a crime ring and it needs to be stopped. plus, stealing a zune or a sub is petty theft in the eyes of the law. stealing an entire set of wheels is grand larceny (which is a felony offense) once it becomes multiple occurences which are planned, you have conspiracy. These are major crimes with serious sentences they get caught.

HKYStormFront 05-27-2010 11:52 PM

i feel ya, plus i (apparently) left my doors unlocked because my locks were not tampered with and my windows were in tact. i say "apparently" because my friend was driving my truck 2 years later (just a few months ago) and his ipod got stolen out of the truck and he knows for a fact he locked it so apparently something screwy's going on. i would say we are hitting the unlock button in pocket but if you do and don't open the door within 60 seconds or so, they lock back so i'm not sure what's going on

esfourteen 05-28-2010 12:08 AM

That really sucks man, and its pretty scary to see this constantly happening in NY/Long Island. Im especially worried with my anniversary wheels. I have the oem locking lugs, but I might order a set of these too:

JDM MUTEKI WHEEL LUG NUT M12 x 1.25 OPEN ENDED BLACK: eBay Motors (item 310193958307 end time Jun-10-10 18:36:46 PDT)

Those plus the oem style locking lug might be enough to make them not bother.

shabarivas 05-28-2010 12:20 AM

Seriously ... stick some razors behind the wheels - at least you got some blood... This is so lame... I hope you find those fvcks...

This is to cheer you up:
http://www.the370z.com/lounge-off-to...els-tires.html

Gee 05-28-2010 12:21 AM

I dunno - seasoned operators don't leave lugs lying around...that smacks of a hasty retreat, eg. a neighbours light going on or a noise of a car pulling up nearby as someone comes home etc.
Seasoned operators become more and more brazen as they go along, and are would be less likely to leave evidence lying around and be ruffled by nearby noises/lights etc, ....

its tricky though,...

Yea i'm pissed. i'm putting it in the garage immediately after i get it back today. i am going over to the alarm installer to schedule an appt for next week to have a viper installed. I'm debating over whether i should go for the remote start and or smart start (for iphone).

until an alarm is in this thing, its not spending the night outside anywhere.

Dude im so sorry to see this, youve got to catch these people, even if you have to "hire" some people who take an alternative approach to dealing with these types of things. Justice is clearly not being served, the police could care less. COntinue doing your research to locate these guys and then seek some extra help. Be smart about it, get your rims back, get a proper alarm and move on. This kind of stuff really irks me, some low class, idiotic individual planned this, they will not stop until they get caught.......ohhh man im so mad right now.....

Uh why wasn't it there in the first place.....:shakes head::shakes head::shakes head:

ZCarMan 05-28-2010 10:18 AM

If I had to park my Z outside I would have an alarm and low jack installed. I am sorry for the loss to your Z but at least you have your Z. Better than it being gone then found stripped as others have discussed.

pompey 05-28-2010 10:45 AM

VERY sorry to hear this, i would be going insane to try to find the people.

Jacky 05-28-2010 10:50 AM

OMG.. i'm so sorry for your lost. This is horrible and i just read the whole thread. I'm so pissed. I really hope you catch these thieves.

i wish there's something i can do. I just searched cl and maybe these links will help.

370z wheels

NISSAN 370Z OEM 19 RAYS WHEELS W/NEW TIRES,G37 350Z G35

NOw i'm starting to think i should clean out my garage.. I originally planned to clean it out just for winter usage...

NYBladeZ 05-28-2010 11:10 AM

from your location I guess this is in NY. If you have been keeping up with the city and island news you would know that wheels stealing has become prevalent. NY forums are littered with stories of people getting their wheels ripped off and waking up to their car on bricks. My advice, a bunch of wheel locks, CCTV, and a garage.
