Sorry to hear and see the damage. Make sure you make her insurance pay for EVERYthing.

I feel the same way too especially i'm paying near $400/month for it.

I've had the car for over 15 months and i only have 4700 miles so far. that means i only drive 300 miles a month. not worth for paying that much money every month and drive so little.

I've owned the car for about 7 months and I have 400 miles on her :) The smile and rush I get whenever I DO drive her though, makes the amount paid worthwhile. Also whenever I give her a wash and detail and I get to caress the car's curves... makes it worthwhile. It's an "escape" for me... escape from work, from stress, and everyday monotonous activities. Even though it's low miles, makes it all the more rewarding to look forward to.

kenchan... be careful with using QD esp when dust/dirt/w/e has a good layer on there. Not sure if you're as anal as I am or other folks on autogeekonline :), but doing that can sometimes cause swirls, esp on a black car being extremely visible. I usually qd or cali dust only if very very light dust. Anything more than 2 days worth of dust I resort to washing with 2 buckets and 4 mitts ;)

FromG2Z- i agree, i may just use my SprayOn CarWash (waterless wash) or just wait until the weekend and wash it. temps are still kinda low here.

here's my detailing stuff... old pict from like 2008? :D i have both a 6" and 3" random orbital. :)

Kenchan may be OCD, we are waiting on the final answer. ;)

VERY COOL kenchan. Nice to see I'm not the only anal/extremely obsessed detailing fanatic. Used to own/run my own detailing business few years ago. Kid came along, had to abandon it... just no more time. Yeah, I have a Flex 3401 and a PC too... looking to get the 3" Griots this summer. I have wayyyyyyyyy too many products (lsps, polishes, towels, clays, everything else under the sun). Getting really into Chemical Guys and Dodo Juice stuff lately. I think I spent close to 4k in total over the years in car products.... :O terrible I know.

kenchan 03-30-2011 04:22 PM

thanks FromG2Z. i use to spend A LOT of time detailing but i too have only limited time so only do full details once a year and just maintain it by not getting the car too dirty (driving in caked up salt road, mud, etc). lol :D im also a trained PDR tech so i fix my own dings using dedicated tools. :p

a little salt i dont mind, but i cant stand the caked on salt and crap that gets in the nooks and pretty much permanently discolor the bits. :D

That is too cool, it must be awesome dealing with dings as they occur rather! Would you say it is a hard trade to learn?
