wow... no wonder it seems like im driving in slow motion every day. :icon17:

cant wait to pull out my Z.

yep. big difference between 8.5 sec and 5.0 sec.

but my vw has a much better stereo system than the one in the nismo z, so the drive is not too bad :)

Left it in the garage because it was supposed to snow today. Turned out to be to warm so it is raining now. I get to bring it out later tonight.

I don't have a 370 but this weekend I got my 280ZX running again by replacing the clutch slave cylinder. I also bled the brakes and attempted to change the oil which left me with a completely torn up and irremovable oil filter thanks to the oil change place I took it to last time hiring the hulk to screw on filters :shakes head:. So this weekend I get to figure out how to get it off as well as flush the radiator and attempt to fix a degrading head gasket with this "Blue Devil" stuff. Has anyone tried it? From watching youtube videos it looks pretty effective. Anyways the oil filter looks something like this and I'm not happy about it.

Can't u use the holes to turn the base of wats remaining of the filter? If all fails use a dremel and cut it.

Oh man that sucks!

Why don't you just get a new gasket instead of trying to seal it with the Blue Devil stuff?

mayhem052 01-18-2011 07:54 PM

I don't have 1200 lying around to get the head gasket replaced and apparently this stuff actually works pretty well. And yes this weekend I'm gonna get a spanner wrench and attempt to unscrew it through the holes. I tried to do it with two screwdrivers and broke one in the process. I also broke a channel lock wrench try to get it off. The thing is on ridiculously tight; it's like the welded it to the block haha. And to fend off the flamers- yes I was turning it counterclockwise.

Ah, wasn't sure if you'd DIY or not.

Well I'm slowly working up my mechanical abilities but I don't think I would be ready for that kind of job just yet. For now a quick fix will be fine as I don't drive the car much anymore and the main priority is just keeping it from blowing up.

Thought about my Z and how much fun itd be to drive it here on the roads in Atlanta, at least they have hills with up and down sweeping turns. Miami has nothing but on and off ramps for toll roads that are any fun to drive on :P

This is way off topic, but... After I replaced a blown head gasket on my Jeep, it started leaking again. Was going through a quart of antifreeze every other day. I used Bar's Leaks Head Gasket Fix in the radiator, and... it actually worked. However, I wouldn't use it if you plan on keeping the car for a long time. The stuff is pretty irreversible. Some folks claim it ruined their engine, but I am thinking they may have tried a second bottle when it didn't work the first time. That would gunk EVERYTHING up.

Back on topic... I looked at my Z today wearing a layer of snow and a layer of sleet/ice on top of her. And she still melted my heart..

My Z got dirty because it poured from 4am-6am and the roads were still wet when I left for work :(
