One of the guys that came out to our weekend meets just traded his C6 Z06 for a new 40th Anniversary Z... seemed to have taken the transition quite easily.

![]() I think you'll miss the power and torque of the Vette, but the Z should still be plenty fun.

Over the last 13 years I've had 4 C5 Coupes...2 C5 Z06's...3 C6 Coupes & 2 C6 Z06's. I've been using them as daily drivers. Other than oil changes & tires I never spent a dime on them for maintenance. |

They also can be run into the ground if well-maintained. |

Not mine. Just routine fluid changes.

hahaha i might not have owned a vette, but from the postings i guess i can liken the experience to how a mini or integra type-r would be more fun at low speeds with lots of twisties than something that cant put the power down in tight corners like a viper.
its very annoying to be really ginger with the pedal keeping the rear end in check while barely revving the engine. a redlining screaming "weak" car would be so much more fun. |

good to hear. Ive always wanted to test drive one just to see how they are, might have to just for the fun of it. With the front end being so long how is visibility in the front?

Visibility was fine for me and I'm only 5'8. Also the front isn't too low. Actually compared to my sports pkg Z it actually sat up a little higher. Meaning the front lip was higher off the ground compared to the sports pkg tire diffusers in the front. Overall a great car, just not as nimble as the Z. Driving on auto-x it felt forced where as the Z was like butter. However on anything but small tight turns the car was amazing. Needed a bit more traction but that had a lot to do with the stock run flats |

I had an '06 C6 Z06. Impressive performance, but just too fast for normal roads...can't really enjoy it. Run it up through second gear and you're going nearly 90 mph. Keeping my foot out of it took the restraint of a saint.
Plus, Corvettes in general don't have a lot of road feel, especially at low speeds. Puttering around in them is a bit boring. But, if you have the right area to run them, they do perform. Last edited by rj45; 05-13-2010 at 08:21 PM. |
