I've never had people stop and stare at me in a Vette (daily in my 370Z).
I've never had someone whip out the camcorder/cellphone and VIDEO me driving down the road or parking lot (happened twice in my 370Z). I've never had the ladies argue over who gets to go for a ride next (stopped counting). Even my father, who has owned to many Vettes over the years loves driving my car. He has commented numerous times about the excellent build quality, the power, seating position, gauge layout, etc. I think he'll buy one next. |

The dealership has a 370Z demo....not sure which style it is. Will there be a major difference between the base sport, touring? I know the Nismo is a tiny bit faster and somewhat stiffer. I'm taking it to some of my favorite roads tomorrow on an extended test drive.I'm looking for the 370 to be a scalpel as opposed to the Z06's cleaver. If all goes well,I'll pick up the new Nismo late tomorrow. It's at a sister dealership 125 miles away & they will bring it when I return with a big grin plastered on my face. |

If you want some luxury, I'd stick get a Touring + Sport for the leather heated seats, bluetooth, etc. Otherwise the NISMO is pretty sweet if you're into that, but it is a little bare bones on the interior. |

I went from a:
built and blown 96 cobra (500+rwhp) to a 05 Evo 8 (323 awhp) to a 02 C5 Z06 (370 rwhp) to a 06 Evo 9 (393 awhp) to a 08 E92 M3 to the 09 Z |
Vette=raw power/better performance.
Z=reliability/a bit less performance. I appreciate reliability over raw power, so I got me a Z...BTW!!!, the latest April Auto Issue of CR tells the following tale: '04. '06, '08 Zs are "Better Than Average"; the '05, '07 ones are "Average". The 370 is too new to be rated, yet, but it seems it'll fluctuate between "Better Than Average" and "Much Better Than Average"...SWEET!!! Greetings from rainy Puerto Rico, dudes! |

hahaha i might not have owned a vette, but from the postings i guess i can liken the experience to how a mini or integra type-r would be more fun at low speeds with lots of twisties than something that cant put the power down in tight corners like a viper.
its very annoying to be really ginger with the pedal keeping the rear end in check while barely revving the engine. a redlining screaming "weak" car would be so much more fun. |

wait....that doesn't sound right....... |
from a C6 Z06 to a Z?
I would NOT do it to be honest. Z06 is a different beast compared to the Z in almost every category. |

Sounds as if you've been on that board! Flamers everywhere

^besides that, to them the Z is the one and only car in the world and nothing can compare to it....

i drove a 2010 Z06...all i can say its quick!

So far the Z seems to be more nimble and a little more confidence inspiring. Both car are really exceptional performance values but at very different price points and very different cars. No regrets about either. |

You also mentioned road feel. The 2008 C6 steering was better then the '07. The Z is better then both and feels more nimble to me. Very few cars are as confidence inspiring and have as good road feel as a Cayman. Placing the Cayman is much easier because you are farther up, closer to the front wheels. Vetts are probably 12" farther back, probably more like 20" in your Vipers? The Z is better then the C6 but not the Cayman in this respect. Personally, confidence inspiring is probably more important to me then ultimate performance for the street. There is a saying that "driving a slow car fast is more fun then driving a fast car slow". I think that is why the Miata is so popular? The Z is not a slow car by any means, it's a nice balance for the street. It's hard to use more power without more room to run. Like someone said, change is nice if you have been driving your Z06 for a while. I just bought a Z after a couple of C6s for a change. For the money it's hard to go wrong with a Z. Great car. Test drive both the Nismo back to back with the Cayman to determine if the extra refinement is worth the extra money. You can't make a wrong choice! |

I test drove the C6 and I have to tell you it's a heck of a car. I don't think the 370Z is meant to be a Corvette. The thing is you can LOAD up a 370Z coupe for what 40k? Out the door at less than 40k? If you load a C6 you're talking 55-60k if it's a DEAL...a no option corvette can be had for 45-48k out the door if you find a great deal...it's all about spending LESS and getting MORE for your money with the 370Z. Plus, comfort wise I loved the 370Z when I FINALLY test drove it a few weeks ago. The Nav and electronics are superior in the 370Z the C6 is a 2005 model and it feels like it. The only thing Corvette has is that big V8, and thats a big deal. I think you have to think where you want your money, not which is better.

This is my daily dispel, I have to fear the corvette's power but agree with all the other advantages. I knew what I was getting into before I bought the 370
and I'm getting used to limited torque, but give me the 5.6L V8 out of the M56 and I would go after a 2006 and up Z51 equiped LS3s. Bob Mallet did it for the Pontiac Solstice, a factory warranted LS3 for 18,000, that would put the cost I paid for my 370 at 47,000, I wonder if an asian tuner could offer that same option with an Infiniti V8. I would pay for it, just think how exclusive the car would be, the sound, torque you may never sell it.:stirthepot: |

they put corvette motors in everything from rx7's to s2000's. They could probably stuff one in the Z. |

I finally brought my 2010 370Z a few days ago my second “Z” car from Nissan.
I could have brought any of the 08 Corvette models , what’s not to like about these great cars , have not ruled out ever owning one down the road, even test drove a few , just couldn’t bold with them not the right fit somhow. Went with a 08, 350Z Touring loved the car, really got to know and appreciate the feel and quality of the "Z" on a trip from the Poconos PA, to Key West FL. Regretted having had to sell it for a larger and all wheel drive type, living in the Poconos PA, went for an Infinity G350 xS, great car, but always in the back of my mind was the “Z”. I never loved the Infinity G350 xS , at the first opportunity gave it to my wife . The esthetics of the “ Z” are pleasing to me , it handles and feels intimate and nimble, on theses tight and curvy Pocono mountain roads. This is my second honeymoon with the ‘Z”, this time it’s a 2010 370Z, haven’t looked back sorry Corvette maybe next time! Just my two cents, Alex http://public.blu.livefilestore.com/...C_3901-800.jpg |
Hey guys sorry to bump an old thread, but im currently thinking about trading in my 09 vette for a 370z. the vette is to fast for the streets i cant really enjoy it, i miss being able to floor my car )08 civic si) and revving it out, i cant do that in the vette or ill be doing well over the speed limit by the end of 2nd gear instantly. I guess i want a better drivers car.

Steve,
The Vette might be faster, but the Z is much more fun to drive. I had both for a while, and I do regret selling the Vette a little, and I might buy a Grand Sport still, but I definitely like the Z better. And, Chris does have a point. I actually enjoyed my vette less when it was supercharged than when it wasn't and you really can't wring out an NA vette on public roads. |

If I get the GS, it will be an addition, not a replacement. It would give me the justification to gut the z

The Z feel dirt slow compare to the Vette. You can make up for some of it with a smaller tire to get you shorter gears.
