Obviously you can run whatever you want in there, but I am fine with paying an extra $100 or so a year for the good stuff. After all I just bought a $40k car. ;)

I found this thread over at myg37 if anybody is interested.

Any one know any thing about the Infiniti Ester motor oil? - Page 3 - MyG37

$15.00 a quart, that's such a rip off!

It's a rip, but I usually pay $60ish to run synthetic in my cars at the quickie lube joints. So for an extra $20 an oil change I play their game and give some business to the dealership who can certainly use it right now.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm okay with it. :ugh2:

Business to the dealership, not after how I've been treated over the last few days....that's all I'm going to say.

I didn't buy my car from this dealer, but they were very helpful and didn't charge me to install my bracket today which they were entitled to do. Of course I would never give my business to dishonest folks.

I get SO nervous when I take my car to the dealership for ANYTHING. Today I took them to install my front bumper protector and I thought they were gonna flip the car off the lift or something...

Depends on the job. Work is work, it all evens out in the end.
Example:
A warranty timing chain job pays 7.2 hours of time, even the best techs will still take over 11-15hrs to do the job correctly.
A subframe recall on a Altima pays 2.6 hours. If you get lucky and its not seized you may be able to do it in a hour and a half, other times it may take you over 8 if you have to air hammer and grind the old one off.

No dealer should ever turn down warranty work of any kind, if he does he's losing work of any kind and the opportunity to earn you as a customer for the long haul.

I stress the fact that all dealers are not the same and invite anyone to visit my store to see what I am talking about.

As I read these posts I'm reminded that if someone receives good or even excellent service they rarely receive a mention, if any, on the flip side if they do even the slightest thing wrong....

Remember guys and girls, there are still good and honest dealers out there sometimes you just have to seek them out.

That's becoming harder and harder to believe. So, on that note, does anyone know any "good and honest" Nissan dealers in the Philadelphia or South Jersey area?

I will agree with you on that. In the entire state of CT there are only three, one being mine, dealers that I would have work on my cars out of 40.
What town are you in and I will call the Nissan are service rep to find out whos the best.

The 350Z does not come with syn oil from the factory. I have also never heard of "break-in oil" for the 350Z. But I would use regular oil for awhile, I switched to syn at 9000 miles on my 350.

I put a call into my rep with your location.
When he gets back to me, I will give you the dealers.

I asked the same question and my dealer told me they didn't know if it was synthetic or not. I didn't think it would be so at 2000 miles i changed it over.

Esters are an aromatic hydrocarbon group found in many fruits and vegetables. They are commonly used as flavoring agents in drinks, and for their smells in perfumes. Esters are defined by the presence of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms attached to the end of a hydrocarbon molecule. Since we have already seen by now that not all hydrocarbons perform the same , it can be assumed that not all Esters function the same in terms of engine oil. There are some 600 known Esters, and manufacturers have found that some Esters can be synthesized from natural resources and be very stable in extreme heat and stress, such as in a racing engine. Most Esters help swell and condition seals, and may be used as an additive in other oils for this reason. Esters also have a polar affinity to most metals, and this allows film strength under zero pressure. Some esters, such as polyolesters, are not hydrolytically stable and are not compatible with elastomer type seals. Most Ester based oils will have NOACK scores around 6% for a 30wt oil.

I will use only Royal Purple!

My older brother turned me on to it years ago...

In the many years that ive owned and driven cars, i have used every major full syn brand out there, and of course all saying they are better than the others.

I took my brother up on his advise and switch from mobile 1 full syn to royal purple full syn and immidiatley noticed a increase in low end torque right off the bat...i thought it was crazy and it was just me, but the mach felt much stronger on the low end power than with mobile 1. It had a "throw you back in the seat feeling to begin with but with royal purple it noticably increased a bit.
