Would you buy a 250Z?
Rumor has it that an Infiniti G25 is on its way over with the VQ25DD - a naturally aspirated 2.5 V6 with direct injection making 210hp/195tq.
If Nissan put this engine in the Z, would you be interested? Obvious pros are a lower entry price (probably around mid to high $20k's - $27k would be my guess) lighter and better fuel economy. |
No thank you a VQ40DD is much more interesting
followed by VQ40DDTT |
It would be interesting only if it were a much smaller and much lighter model. I'm saying Miata/Z3 sized with real go-kart handling. It would probably be a lot more fun to drive than the 370z.
No rumours, the G25 will be in production.
apparently as a sedan only too
Maybe d190Z? :D
only if turbo charged
If it's anything like the base Genesis Coupe, no thanks. More like a Miata, then yes plz moar.
I voted no in the slightest, but i hit the wrong button. It really depends on all the specs.
No because I don't subscribe to all the "green" :bs:. In fact if Nissan ever does this to the Z I will sell the Z and never buy another Nissan again. I had to go through this environmental :bs: for 30 years starting in the 70's. I sure as hell am NOT going to be forced into it again for a second time in my life.
there is a rumor going around that the g25 which actually be the lead in for the new nissan s series replacement. think 250sx
I would look at a 2.5l turbo (either I4 or V6), or better yet I5 ala audi TT-RS!
Ha Ha , Why do we buy the Z?. For me its the power and sportiness. If I wanted a smaller engine I would have gone for a miata or the S2000. Besides I feel it will cheapen the Z name if they are going to call it a Z. By all means go for a G25 just like their smaller CUVs looking like a mini Murano.

It wouldn't be a Z if made. Not even the slightest bit. No replacement for displacement.

Nissan puts a engine making all of 190 horsepower in a Z, I'll go buy a Mustang |
If they brought back a rwd 250sx I would totally buy it. They can keep the Z as the flagship below the gtr but there is a huge gap for cheap sporty category.
If the pricing is around $23-27K then it could compete with the likes of the speed3, gti and genesis. |

I wouldn't buy a Z with a 2.5, but the G25 looks interesting. If it were light and came in a coupe version (unfortunately sedan only) I think it might be a cool replacement for my DD
Just buy an altima coupe

With CAFE coming, a down rated Z is a possibility.
I would take a lower cap v6 or 4 cylinder turbo in the z's body if it were say at least 4k less... I'm a person who likes great awesome handling, not brute power and as it is my DD fuel savings would be welcome...
In saying that the 3.7L should stay on, a lot of people seem to like it, if not actually want more power... =) Nismo should have twin turbos for these people =) |

gtr |
As some people here have already said, if this 2.5 L was along the same concept as an MX5 then yes, cause the performance would be good from lighter weight that would benefit performance, handling and braking.
If that read VQ25DET(T) I'd be all for it.
250z?...hell 2 da no!..haha

im down for a 250sx/silvia but not th z
yah, make a silvia or a rear drive altima using 2.5 and compete against the FT86 or watever it was called.
As others have stated, a 2.5 RWD should be a <3klbs banger, not a V6. Take me back to my 240 days!
So, I think I'd advocate a 270s or 270sx, smaller and with styling cues from the Z, a drop-top to directly compete with the MX5, maybe even undercut the price. If not a drop-top, then maybe a stable targa.
The problem with this approach is that so many roadsters have tried and failed to dethrone the little Mazda, and it's a niche market as it is, that the whole proposition becomes a huge risk. I don't know if it would compete, but I'd love to see what they stood up to attempt it. |
