Paint quality on the 40th editions.............

Is it any better than the others?

fullmonty 05-04-2010 07:35 PM

Doubt it

Seems nice to me. I haven't really studied other Z's for comparison, though. It's got some orange peel (like most other cars), but the color is very well done and it looks even panel to panel, e.g. the bumper doesn't look like a different color than the fender. No complaints, here.

give it three days, ull find your first chip

lol jk, but it certainly feels like i find a new one every week though, but theres only 3-4 on my car at 10k

Yes, if you get the European 40th Anniv. models that come with self healing clearcoats. The 40th would have cost too much in the U.S. (because of the weak dollar and taxes) if they had the self healing clear coat and Navigation.

Self healing clear coat??? That is new to me. never heard of it.

Infinitis' were using up until recently. I think they stopped in 08?

Paint Quality

Just look at the rear license plate area. How is the quality there. My nismo looks like crap. I don't know why they don't paint that area more thoroughly.

What's so funny? The self-healing paint is an option over in Europe. I thought this was common knowledge.

Yeah I don't get the laughs, unless its cuz I wrote clearcoats instead of clear coat (in which case is not hilarious). Rep for Semtex for finding the screenshot.

I would love to get me some if they offer it on the side...

whoady4shoady 05-04-2010 09:34 PM

What the heck is so funny? Am I missing something here?

Scratch Shield is something they put on afterwards. Here's it's some kind of dealership sales crap...where they put some crappy wax on your car and say it's protected for life and has a warranty and so on.

BS....they wouldn't claybar the car first when they tried to sell it ot me.

09' was the last year. Its standard with the tech paackage. Works well but don't get your hopes up. The scratch- shield keeps the car from getting swirl marks and visible scratches on the clearcoat. It doesn't fix cuts in paint color. So if u get a scratch in your G that's down to the color? You gotta fix it like any other car. Most people get a higher expectation, the name is kind of misleading

Thats not infiniti scratch shield. It has to be ordered from factory with tech package. Its not an isolated package and is not or has never been offered on standard nissan vehicles. If they told u they were going to coat it on your car, they were either using a different copy product or they were straight up hustling you. No other mass production car offers this feature. It was exclusive to infiniti for only 2 model years. 2008 and 2009.
Canceled due to cost and dwindling dollar.
