The Z vs The Porsche
Hey All,
So I was jumping on the Mass Pike today ( for those of you who dont live in Boston, MA, this is the main highway) and I drove right up next to a fairly new Porsche Carrera 4. The guy looked at me and smirked and floored it..........being a new Z owner and wanting to "represent" I followed in pursuit. I typically am not the kind of driver to do this, but after hitting high speeds, I was VERY surprised to see that I kept up with this Porsche very easily. In really tight turns he had a little more traction i feel like, his back tires were HUGE....so he might have had me there..........SOOOOO my question is, has anyone else experienced going against a Porsche, particularly the Carrera 4 or any other models??? I happen to think the Z did very well, and I know this was highway driving as opposed to the track, but im interested to see if anyone else has stories about Z's vs Porsches................. |
I was just our on 95 and the roads were quite... but they don't want threads about illegal street racing on this forum... So I would edit the story a little bit and just ask the question if anybody ever tested their car against a Porsche on the track. Otherwise this thread will get locked...
|
keep it at the tracks man.... 120mph?! around other ppl.... tsk tsk
|
weaving in n out of traffic at 120mph? Thats retarded...
|
You certainly aren't "representing" me by racing in and out of traffic like a douche...

You're a loser for giving in.
Edit: because of people like you, we get a bad rep and innocent people get killed. |

Guys, I think a simple: "Please dont post about street racing" would suffice and then close the thread. I doubt negative comments like the ones we see here are going to change the persons drving habits, but rather discourage him from being a part of our community altogether. Sure you can make the argument that we dont want those types of drivers in our community anywho, but maybe showing the guy how awesome track racing/autoX can be would be a more effective way to change the habit.

Forza Rocks!

Track FTW!

I AutoX'ed my 3000GT once, and it was a ****ing rush. My whole body was shaking before and after each run, much more so than any spirited highway driving. I gotta take the Z once its broken in.

Everybody speeds, but most of us are responsible enough to keep the racing on the track. Or at least abide by forum rules and not post about it.

Anyways to the OP, I'll hit you up this summer and we can take a trip to the drag strip or some autox events, maybe we'll find a Porsche there to run against... |
Wow. Tough crowd. Sheesh.

this is a forum-take what you will from it -I think people here are very responsible and kind. Lots of helpful info can be gleened to your benefit. |
The reason why you could probably keep up had to do with perhaps the max speed limiter on the carrera?

I don't beleive a naturally aspirated 370Z or 350Z would ever beat a Porsche straight-line or in slaloms....at least not without better tires and some help from forced induction. I will concede however that a Z owner could hang near one enough that it wouldn't ever be an absolute total cakewalk for the Porsche. |

old civic era=street racing fail new civic era=track beasts or he could be part of the ricer group, but that could be any car ha |
For all you Boston boys that want to test your car handing (legally) I suggest you sign up for this event. There is another on May 15th if that day doesn't work out.

Wow, relax people
I would like to welcome the new member to the forum. I am glad we don't have endless unsubstantiated street race stories that don't prove anything because there are way to many variables. I am not surprised you were able to hang with a Carrera 4 but there are way to many factors on the street to compare the two cars. For this reason I am glad not to hear these types of stories.
I was also not aware we had so many perfect people in this forum. Relax people we only drive a Nissan that starts at the same price as a nicely equipped honda accord. I have tracked, AutoX, Drag Raced all of my vehicles but nothing beats the thrill of a 10 car midnight Malibu Canyon Run for those of us that do things once or twice in our life that is not perfect. |
yawn...

These sort of threads are always goofy...
These people are probably just trolling. ibtl |

Agreed. Geez guys, we've all made mistakes. I agree he shouldn't-a-done it, I would not have, but give the guy a break. He needs to know that that kind of stuff is NOT cool, is very dangerous, and he needs to learn that allowing some idiot to goad you into a road race is, well just stupid. Once he sees that we're not impressed, he will most likely thank us for removing that child like response from ever happening again. Beating someone up for making a mistake never makes them better for it. . . . |

this is for the better.
kinda like when i was a child my mom used to beat the **** out of me with a belt when i did something wrong.. =X |
haha..give the guy a break.

we still love you OP =)
