FWIW the Z is a retro design, albeit a more progressive one than the Mustang.

Grabber Orange is SO sexy to me. But it would look terrible on my Nismo. :(

The Kona Blue isn't far from Daytona Blue for the 350z. Monterey Blue pales in comparison to those 2 shades, imo.

the big difference though is that the z borrows styling cues from the old 240z but adds a lot of modern touches to it. the mustang is essentially a carbon copy of the older model, both inside and out. it gives more of an impression of lack of creativity than a tribute to its lineage. the ford gt at least mixed retro with modernity pretty good. speaking of which, that ford gt was a pretty nice car, the only modern ford i would have loved to own one day. too bad they killed it and instead kept making those outdated mustangs. and yes, they are outdated. a solid rear axle has no place whatsoever on a 21st century car. i can tolerate anything and everything else on a car, but that solid axle needs to die, get buried, and never be resurrected again.

Solid rear axles schmolid rear axle... it gets the job done. Granted they will be going IRS eventually... it's an inevitability. When that day comes, however, I can see a lot of purists (of the drag racing variety) getting pissed off. Though a 2010 Track Pack GT with IRS would no doubt put up better numbers than the current live axle. It's actually scary to think about how good that car would be all around.

I do agree about the styling and how it lacks imagination. I wish they progressed from the 99-04 design instead of going back to 1964.5 and taking that entire design. That said, I do think Ford did a really good job with it, I just wish they had gone a different route.

My biggest gripe has always been the size. The 99-04s were sized right. My 03 GT weighed a little over 3200 lbs and was more comparable in size to a 370 than a 2005+ Mustang. Wish they had kept the dimension (and weight) in smaller.

On the Mustang or the Z?
The Mustang has Grabber Orange and Screaming Yellow, in certain light the orange can have a hint of yellow.

m4a1mustang 03-31-2010 01:16 PM

Damnit I want a Kona Blue Z!!!

Well it has a retro window, anyway. Not exactly a retro design, more like ultra modern.

They should make the damned cars the same size as the original Mustang. Read: small.

m4a1mustang 03-31-2010 01:24 PM

Lmao @ retro window.

Yea the outside is but the inside is modern and up to date for the most part. Its like the Camero, I love the outside but hate the inside.

http://chevroletcarblog.com/wp-conte...o-interior.jpg

ah come on, how can you not love that interior? from the plain bland black dash, to the odd looking silver wings trim on the steering wheel to the two ginormous speed/tach gauges, to the radio/ac controls that look like they were salvaged from a 1960s model car in a junkyard to those 4 ridiculous mini-gauges in front of the shifter that are impossible to see from a normal driving position. what's not to like about the camaro interior?

Why? Its a matter of opinion and he is fully entitled to that. No reason to resort to being childish.

I cant prove that its a great color with facts just like he cant prove that its an ugly color with facts.

m4a1mustang 03-31-2010 02:00 PM

I could never get into Grabber Orange. Competition Orange from '04 was ok. Dunno why theydidnt continue with yellow.

no that's not it. you obviously didn't get it. the joke was that what he said can be understood as the two mustangs are different shades of vomit, in other words, the mustangs themselves are vomit not their color. get it?
