I found it a bit depressing when I looked in this months Modified Magazine and saw a Hyundai Genesis Coupe with the 3.8l V6. It was bolt on mods and a tune to the tune of 310whp 296trq..wtf..296trq N/A !? Where is the Z going wrong !?!?!?

EDIT: Sorry to get off topic but I didn't wanna start a new thread and I kinda feel this is sorta in the same category as Z compared to XXX and how disappointing, power wise, the Z is stacking up.

Very impressive offering by Ford. Numbers do look very nice on paper.

I'm sure this car is very fast in the 1/4, .94 G's on the skidpad doesn't tell the whole story about handling, a lot of it is attributed to the tires.

If I recall the 3000GT VR4 used to pull some mightly impressive numbers on the skipad, over .90 G's also. In real life it's a handful in the twisties, mainly due to its weight. I have a feeling it will be the same for this Mustang, Fast in a straight line, handling looks good on paper but in real life it will be nowhere near as enjoyable tossing around or precise as a 370Z. I could be totally wrong also. ;)

If you get the stang you will be one of those guys trying to figure out which car is yours in the parking lot. They are and always will be a dime a dozen. Too common and too plain looking inside and out. What are they estimating the 2011 0 60 and 1/4 mile times to be?

Pushing_Tin 03-30-2010 12:22 AM

I will test drive one, and who knows.

I love my Z, but the 5.0L gives me wood. When it comes times for a second car, that will be it.

gamallama 03-30-2010 02:36 AM

You know this is just a thought but, if you want to buy a car based on numbers & how fast it goes why would you even be thinking about a $30,000+ mustang? If you want to get 0-60 under 4.3 seconds go buy a old camaro throw a SC and other goodies on it and you will have spent less than $30,000 for a FASTER car. It doesnt bother me that these new cars are faster than a 370z. IMO people dont buy 370z because of their 0-60 times or its 1/4 mile times.

They but it because it is a 370z

Crazy8 03-30-2010 05:21 AM

As soon as you buy the Gt, camaro or some else will come out with one that has even more hp. It's a game.

Uhh never been a stang or domestic type of guy, but I'll give props to the whole retro styling as the stang, looks wise, has made a come back. That being said is it still running a live axle? Wasn't that a point of frustration with the stang?

I pulled this picture up and asked a few coworkers to guess what year mustang interior this is. They all said between the late 80's and early 90's. It's the 2011 Mustang's interior... That's just pathetic design.

I don't mean anything personal about this, but your coworkers know nothing about cars, do they?

Why would I take it personally that you think my coworkers are dumb? :P

Look at the interior though. Take away the Nav screen and it looks like it's from the 80's, even to me. My dream car is a 1993 Mustang GT 5.0, and it's interior is almost identical.

Here's a 1992 LX interior, which is not far from the GT's interior in 1992 (sorry for the large picture). Are you saying it's not pathetically similar?

LiquidZ 03-30-2010 07:52 AM

Sorry Matt, I fail to see it. The interior is supposed to be retro, but I don't see it here.
