If what the original poster says is true, the updates may be a long time coming. I can only imagine the level of investigation Nissan will want to do due to a claim such as this.

Brake pedal is supposed to kill the throttle, at least it does under normal circumstances. I guess the only way this could happen would be for the ECU to lose its mind. But obviously it was a case of temporary insanity if you were able to drive it to the dealer afterwards.

Sure your foot didn't slip off the brake onto the gas when you clipped the curb? I know they feel totally different but I've been known to fat foot it before where you are actually pressing the brake pedal and the accelerator at the same time.

I am not certain I follow the logic of your question. If the ECU is supposed to override the throttle when or if the brake is depressed, how could pushing the brake pedal and accelerator at the same instant cause what happened to the origina poster? Would not this be the "lost mind" ECU scenario you were obviously being facetious about?

Its second nature for sure. All long term manual drivers are programmed to do this. My hand is always on the shifter until I reach around 3rd gear. So If this was me at that speed I would already be in the position to throw it in neutral and let the car scream. Theres two types of people in the world. Yesterday I have the first experience of the car RPM getting stock in 4K RPM after downshifting and slowing down for about 50MPH. It did it for more time than the actual SRM do it when downshifting.

Mine got stuck in the 2500 RPM range after down shifting about 2 months ago with the 7AT. I was breaking so I took my foot off the brake and pressed the gas to jump the RPMs a little bit and that seemed to correct the issue. It was rather strange though.

need a diff, but ill have a carbonetics or quaife 1500...

theres the 3 grand, leaves me with rear big brake kit...

but

piece of mind that my car wont go revving on its own.... priceless

haha jk im pissed i dont have sports package but what ya gonne do, i took a good deal on a base leftover on the lot..

i hope this doesnt pop up more though because it def could be very dangerous if you dont handle it correctly...

Couldn't anyone run their car up onto a curb and then claim it was the car's fault??? Not saying I don't believe you, but with the current climate of car-electronics-bashing it does seem convenient that the damage was caused by the car and not the driver...

mspeasl 04-05-2010 12:19 AM

"VDC" was off..........

This story just doesnt make sense... which if its true really doesnt anyway... but nothing from these pictures proves that what he said happened really did... I didn't really read this, i dont know how old the OP is but he could of just hit it around a turn and spun in a circle and caused the damage shown... And out of the momment decided to use this as an excuse to make himself feel better.. my apologies if thats not the case but it's just how I feel about this.

Im hard pressed to believe what was said to happened, happened.. but im in for updates

:iagree:

Sorry to say it, but I too agree with Chuck and Eric. The damage appears to be the result of the "VDC" being turned off going around the corner and the gas pedal pressed real hard for effect.............. Now all that has to be done is to convince the insurance company that it was the same problem that is going on with the Toyota's. Which by the way is another questionable situation. Fifteen minutes of fame I believe it is called..!

Just my
:twocents:

If by "a lot" you mean nothing then yes. I haven't found any sport rays being sold, much less for $1K in a while. Is there some site other than this one where people post used 370z parts?

Jeffblue 04-05-2010 10:46 AM

I don't know. If i had any inkling that what happened was my fault in this situation, i wouldn't go post it on a forum to make myself feel better. I think that the OP honestly believes what happened was an issue with the car and wanted to warn people on this forum of what happened, not to lie and make up some far fetched story so he can sleep better.
