370Z or GTR.. which to buy..?

I'm thinking to buy either a 370Z or GTR. Im used to cars with lots of horsepower like the M5, RS4, Cayman S. I've been lucky enough to own them all. The M5 was with awesome power, but a pig to drive. The RS4 ( My Favorite of the three ) was all round grate, but with the four wheel drive a bit boring. the cayman S was Fun, real fun, but under powered.

So what next a 370Z or GTR. Problem is the GTR will have Zero back up support here in the Philippines, My concern is the 370Z is gonna be disappointing on power. And only got two seats. Though im sure is will be fun to slide around corners and my local track.

My concern with the GTR is going to be like the RS4 and a bit of a bore,
and a worry to maintain.

What would you buy if the budget we not the issue, and you wanted to have some thing exciting to hack around in, and put a smile on your face. ??

( I think the Z is better looking )

If you're coming from M5 or RS4, 370Z is going to be too slow. I will highly suggest you to buy a GTR. You can get a good deal on 09 GTRs on ebay or autotrader. For '10, there is a significant price increase. Good luck.

Interesting post because I was also cross shopping various vehicles, including GTR, 08 Viper, and used 997TT. And guess, what? I may be going with 370z. I am also used to driving high power vehicles - had a modified Viper. Now, I am looking for a nice fast cruiser at a reasonable price. I have yet to drive a 370z and if it performs as reviewed by mags, it should feel comparable to my old 335i coupe which is "acceptable".

I agree with your comments that maintenance on GTR could be an issue - esp if you are importing through "gray market" and that Z looks better than GTR. GTR is a great car with amazing performance but I am just not digging the looks (very subjective of course) and probably won't get me too excited. 997TT isn't much of a looker but at least it carries a nice cache.

Another car you should perhaps consider is the upcoming Audi RS5. I have my name on the list at a local dealer. They initially slated release in Jan during Detroit auto show but looks like it's being delayed.

a couple photoshopped Rs5..

How are these cars even comparable?
The GTR is far superior to the 370Z.

^^ 2 totally different cars..one's super...lol

the GT-R does look a bit weird..... Get a 370z and then modify it later on

I don't know what the prices and market is like in the Phillipines, but if your not too worried about buying a used car over a new one, then my suggestion would be a 996 gt3 or a 997 gt3. Or even a Ferrari 360 for a little more cash. Again I have no idea the prices or market over there so this may not even be a question for the later mentioned. But either way you've seen the GTR numbers and what it can hang with around a track I honestly don't think you'll get too bored, and the Z will def be mod friendly up to a certain point. This would be a tough decision. Good luck

Buy a Corvette ZR1. It will blow all of the competition out of the water. Best of all, it is not too heavy weighing in at 3,352lbs.

Stock for stock its no contest. However, you could get the Z and use the spare money to modify it... That would be a lot of fun if you like that kind of thing..

If you like to buy fast factory cars then get the GT-R. A Z06 would be fun too.

One thing I can tell you is that the GT-R won't be a bore like the RS4. The GT-R is very rear wheel biased so you can slide it around quite a bit too.

But a monster 370Z would be awesome too...TT with a cosworth block and a Sequential tranny. Moton suspension.......I gotta go..

isnt the GT-R a VQ also....3.8L vs. the 3.7L in the 370z

there are kits out for the G37...same engine as the 370Z...so a kit will for sure be out very soon, all the main components are made...just some adjustments I presume......

I would say go buy the GTR. As for the 370z being just a 2 seater, the GTR is basically a 2 seater as well. Trust me i've seen those cars in the dealer and there is NO LEG room at all. You might be able to fit 3 people, MAYBE. But If I had the money like you, I would wait for the V-Spec to come out. More power and lighter.
