Anyways, my guess would be making a left turn onto the access road at a good clip, a little too much throttle on exit... he tries to correct but the back end swings around and the car makes a half spin to the left, the right rear making contact with the curb first.
OR a failed attempt at a drift. You know how all the kids are out trying to drift these days! |

Hope he is OK. But the freaking insurance is going to go off the roof with all these 370s accidents. :shakes head: |
Damn. Another one down????? These guys have got to calm down. I haven't even picked mine up yet and I'm nervous now. Not because of lack of skill, but because some knucklehead may be goofing off and wreck into me. Maybe I'll just keep it in the garage, lol.

vdc defaults back on every time you turn on the car. |
BS flag your buddy couldn't have turned it off and kept it off unless the car ran the whole night. Note to others keep the VDC on unless you know what you're doing. Sorry to hear about your accident, I'll say it here just as in previous threads, you can get it fixed but it won't feel 100% the same.
|
Oh and it's going to take FOREVER I think it took Juan about 4 months, very hard to get Nismo parts, hopefully done by June/July

Wasn't there a thread a while back where a guy claimed his mom wrecked his Z?

Yeah my insurance isn't that bad, pressing the VDC=4 months no car, what a thrill!

$hit happens lot of power I drive sometimes without VDC on you just have to know your car and when to take your foot off the pedal!:stirthepot:

I take it the OP took down the pictures and original post? dang it...I wanna see...

While it takes some balls to own up to your own mistake (well, besides blaming it partially on a friend), you had to expect a little bit of flames from the self-righteous, perfect drivers on these boards. You know, the ones that have never sped, over-accelerated, under-steered, or made any other mistake behind the wheel of a performance car.
Hope the car is ok, and you avoid whatever mistakes you made in the future. Poor Nismo! I learned my lesson the easy way with VDC. Went through a series of twists and turns without my VDC on (had NO idea exactly what it was going to do, and was thinking it would increase my accelerating capabilities). I almost lost control around a corner, but was able to countersteer and slow down a bit. I got off with just a little sweat on my forehead and a crappy feeling in the pit of my stomach. VDC has been left on to this day! |
Yeah, seriously... just own up! Don't delete the pics and try to drop it on a friend. Wonder if we'll ever see the OP around here again (at least under that user name?).
|
Nah, it's not the fault of the VDC being on or off, it's Newton's fault. Him and his dang laws of physics. Disobey the law and you're done!

1 Son. Stay down in bmore.

It's incidents like this that may convince car manufacturers to not even allow for VDC to be turned off in future models. Indeed, I believe there are already some cars in production that don't really allow for traction control to be fully disengaged, even after you've hit the button to turn it off. It's a shame that it only takes a few rotten apples to ruin things for everyone else.

He deleted all his previous posts. LOL!

That really sucks. All he had to do was admit his mistake, learn from it, and move on.
|
forums can be a harsh place....mistakes? we don't allow mistakes here. Crash your car? well you better come in here and apologize.

Another one bites the dust....hopefully wherever he is, he's not naive to think that this is a quick 2 week fix. I wish it something they told you when you buy a Nismo, "If anything happens please be aware that replacement parts are always delayed and on back order." I know I flamed him through and through, but come on you're telling me that your friend turned it off the night before, what's next your mom turning VDC off?

In road racing... just try to keep the car under control and keep it on track... if you go into the grass well then keep your cool and get back on. You'll notice that sometimes if a driver knows he's gone in too deep he will just keep going straight IF there is runoff or an access road. In NASCAR... SLOWLY ease off the gas, ease up off the steering, and use enough brake to keep the car under control and let the car move on up the track (you are trying to maximize available grip to contribute to braking)... hopefully you'll have scrubbed enough speed to keep it off the wall. On the street this is hard because you usually can't go off the road without encountering a curb or some other obstacle. |

or follow what m4a1mustang said. |
Don't let off the gas.

From this, I gathered that coming in too hot, I'd straighten up and use 100% for braking, then turn. I was going from the perspective that if you're coming into the corner too hot - say at 90% traction, and you let off, the car will use that remaining 10% just on engine braking....(examples, not hard numbers!) - you touch the brakes and you're screwed. If you're still too hot, you're kissing grass/wall/curb. |
Yeah, you have to do everything you can to straighten the trajectory of the car out so you can brake most effectively. Exactly how you do it depends on the setup of the car... some are very tail happy off throttle, some get twitchy under braking... etc.

If this had happened on a track everyone would simply be posting "well, ****, that sucks - glad you're okay." The fact is that this was on the street and was preventable. I'm sure everyone is glad the dude is okay, but it's clear it could've been prevented if a little maturity was involved. |
sucksss

Alright who hurt the Op's feelings! :bowrofl::roflpuke2::bowrofl:
curious as too why Op doesn't show that he drives a Z? a real Z owner would be proud to let others know what he drives. Just food for thought... |
I didnt take one, granted i have a lot of experience...I have a cliche with motorized things so to say...I dont kno everything but im a hell of a driver tho
