can you clarify something for me...

so if you have robert's plan a/b, i understand you get the 4.3% discount. and if you had the plan d you got the 2.87% discount.

but i've read in some other forum that they charge a 5% dealer transport fee in plan d. dealer pays 2.5% and you pay 2.5%.

with that said, with plan a/b, do we pay the dealer transport fee of 2.5% as well? or does the dealer pay the whole transport fee themselves.

also when the dealer says "dealer trades" or "dealer swap" , is this referring to the transport fee?

i apologize ahead of time if these questions were already answered somewhere.

My dealer said the 40th edition was excluded from VPP...another lie maybe?

Seems like all the dealers around me have 1 40th edition available, not many ohter 2010's around.

I could be wrong for saying this, I don't think it's so much a lie.....but if it's optional for dealerships to participate with the VPP then no way any dealership will want to sell you the 40th anniversary edition using any discount when they could sell their 40th Anniversary at full price (MSRP) as they're limited. From a dealership perspective, as long as they're making money, even if it's a little from the VPP, they don't mind, but for the case of a 40th anniversary edition, I don't see why they'd let you pay under invoice for it when they could sell it for MSRP. Personally, if they're as hot as we all think, we should be surprise they don't jack it up above MSRP, I've seen scenarios like these before...do I think it's logical to buy a car above MSRP? I think that's ridiculous, but dealers can do whatever they want....it's all about supply and demand and timing. To put things in better perspective, the 40th Anniversary Edition's base price alone savings is already $4000 of profit a dealer is expecting to make, I highly doubt any dealerships out there would give up that much money for a VPP - what's in it for them?

I hope someone could agree with me.

At first I thought at an economy like this, dealers are having a hard time selling impractical cars like the 370z, maybe dealerships would do whatever it takes to boost their sales....apparently I was wrong about that last time I went into the dealership. Which is more reason why I am sure about what I said about the 40th Anniversary Edition.

Plan A/B doesn't include the 5% dealer transport fee from what I can see - since its a Nissan employee offer I guess they skip that part. Not sure about the "trades"/"swap" question. I think the intent of the VPP program is for you to choose a car on the lot - the dealer would prefer to not have to trade/swap with another on a car he's not gonna make a whole lot of money on anyway would be my guess.

Also, keep in the mind the 40th Anniv Edition is just a Touring with an additional package added on - you could get VPP on the Touring piece and then pay regular price for the package add-ons. I'm curious, I heard they are making 1,000 of the special editions - I would wager there are less than a 1,000 fully loaded Black Cherry ones out there for 2010 so which one is more rare?

I've talked to about 4 nearby dealers and they all said they accept VPP on the 40th anniversary. It's all about how much demand there is in your area.

Edit: In fact there's a guy in the new 370 owner section that bought it for VPP.

Balan - If you go to Hackensack Nissan, the guy I dealt with was Justin Pinton and he was pretty cool and relaxed. He is rather new but he isn't the pushy type of salesman and he's young too. Of course you can get anyone you want there but he was pretty good to deal with for me and we negotiated pretty hard with him and the manager If you want to mention my name (I don't get any referral fee), it's Chris Marrone w/ the blue 370Z that was just picked up this past weekend I'm bringing mine in today for the clear bra to be done!

Thanks for the input. I agree with you a fully loaded Black Cherry for 2010 is rare....as a matter of fact , I can say the same about the 2010 Black on black fully loaded is Also rare because I've had dealership search Nissan USA and they only made 1 so far and it's sold already to somebody and there's none coming in their pipeline....unless, of course I go out there and custom configure one. Which can be done, just like the black cherry one you're referring to. But it's rare because you configure it the way you want it, or the dealership configured it the way they thought customer would want it. But it can be done, but the 40th Anniversary Edition is supposedly limited and you can't go back at the end of 2010 and expect to still be able to order it. Or 2015 and still order it. Maybe not the Cherry Blk because they'd have another limited ext. color again, but then again, the 40th anniversary edition has a lot more than just ext. color.

Now, the other question is DO I think the 40th anniversary is really that great and should be that exclusive to the point where it should be charged MSRP? I don't think so. But I'm just talking about my personal experience with all of the dealerships I've come in contact with here in California (especially the bay area) and most of them are counting on to make big bucks with the 40th anniversary edition models and don't intend to give me or anyone any discount on the 40th...they're asking no less than MSRP. Which is why I am glad to find out there are people (unfortunately from other states) able to use the VPP for it

I also think that the 40th is really nothing more to it being a touring...well, at least that's from our perspective....to Nissan that's a different story....it's their once in a lifetime 40th anniversary for the Z (and it does have limited branding things on it that makes it unique and cannot be custom ordered like the Cherry Blk fully loaded or the blk on blk fully loaded)

Dealer participation in the VPP program is 100% up to the dealer.

As I’ve mentioned before; some dealers simply won’t participate at all on any vehicle, some will participate on anything they sell while still others will do so on some vehicles but not on “high demand”/”special” vehicles.

Keep in mind that dealer’s are independent businesses – Nissan doesn’t own them – and as independent dealerships they have to make what they feel is the best decision for their dealership/their market area.

That said, I suspect that finding a dealer who will do the VPP on the 40th Anniversary model will likely be a bit difficult but certainly not impossible…at the end of the day, every dealer wants to sell cars!

On other things…

I have several requests for claim numbers to process that have come in since late Saturday night; I will likely not get to those until sometime this evening but I WILL get to them!

I just purchased my 2010 pearl white base+sport thanks to you Robert! Thank you so much! I have never felt so good on a deal like this. thanks to your vpp I came out saving more money than i had planned. Also because of my trade in, i only paid 800 bucks in taxes! win!!!

i will post pics of the z when it comes in this Wednesday =)

For all you guys that are participating in this (and the one last spring/summer); if you really want to "pay me back" in some way, just plan to be here in Nashville for ZCON 2010 and the 40th Anniversary celebration of the Z!

As I've mentioned in my specific "ZCON thread" I'm going to try an organize some sort of "get together" for THE370Z.com folks and I'd love to see a lot of you there.

That new guy is me!!! I was able to buy it slightly below VPP price at Buena Park Nissan, but only after I started to leave the negotiating table. They initially stated that VPP was not available on the 40th anniversary. So, go negotiate yourself a good deal.

There was a bug in the previous spreadsheet so I've fixed that. I have also added the 40th Anniversary Package for those who want to play with that. I've split into a CalcCoupe and CalcRoadster tab so those of you looking for convertibles can play around also. Its not perfect because you can accidentally choose exclusive options (like 40th Anniv Package and Floor Mats for instance) but if you are careful it will give you a real good idea of where MSRP, Invoice, and VPP price fall out. Enjoy!
