Aren't our blocks made of aluminum or aluminum alloy? Last time I checked aluminum is not magnetic.

umm meaning that any metal particles floating around in your oil that comes from the engine is probably going to be aluminum, which is not magnetic, so the "filtermag" will not be able to pick them up.

Yeah but if y'all used Amsoil you wouldn't even have any metal shavings to worry about. Anyone who uses any other brand of oil is CRAZY!!!

I filled up with amsoil last time, I also have a magnetic plug. I'll have to take pics of whatever comes out next time I change the oil :stirthepot:

Seriously not trying to be a ****, but I've been looking for a few minutes now and haven't been able to find any info about what some of the components are made of.

There have been a few guys who have done Blackstone UOAs and posted their results. If you do a search on "Blackstone" they'll come up. Here's one of them. You can see the various different metals they found in the oil.
