I always thought my speakers were louder when I first bought the car. I remember only going up to 20 or so when I first bought it. Over time, either my ears became more tolerant to the sound or my speakers got softer. I had the windows down on the highway, so 26 was a little louder than normal listening.

I didn't have the EQ adjusted in any way.

Today on the way driving to work, the FM channels all of the sudden stopped working, I just hear noise now. I'll call the dealer and bring it in.

^^^?

Bose isn't as nice as everyone thinks. I've found their OEM setups to be slightly above mediocre. Nothing special at all.

I bust my Bose at 30 all the time and with the Kicker amp and 8 inch woofer in the back it sounds great.

mick 02-17-2010 09:58 AM

i don't worry about them speakers as much as the ears of those who would play music that loud :)

eh what you say? My hearing is already on the bad side from my job in the Army and probably from the stereos when I was younger. Plus when I have my stereo all the way up I usually have the windows down too so it doesnt sound as loud then. And the Bose turned all the wau up is loud but not overly loud like some aftermarket ones can get.

Plus if we worried about everything that could be bad for us we would have no fun at all. I know this guy that worries about bad foods, worries about girls and STDs even with condoms, etc.. He lives a very boring life IMO. He might lik eit but man its boring.

elmz 02-17-2010 10:44 AM

Man 26?! I usually have it on 20 at the most and that's with Bass and Treble at +5 already, any higher sounds distorted.

antman22 02-17-2010 10:56 AM

yeah, i can't even fathom the stereo at 26...i think my ears would bleed. i prefer to listen to the engine however, so i usually only have it between 11-15....

This thread makes me wonder what # I listen to mine on (in 5 months, I never realized there WAS a number LOL!) I know I listen to my music way too loud since I don't have to worry about having the kids in this car :)

Anxious to find out what "my #" is.

It could have smelt like this, I didn't pay too much attention to the type of smell because I was focused on how bad it smelt.

If it smelled that bad, it probably was the speaker. Your amp should be fine. Just replace the speakers (if you go aftermarket, be sure to get the same impedance load) and you'll be good to go!

Okay...I think I must be way denser than I thought I was. I don't see any numbers, just a line of bars that increase as I turn the volume up. Am I losing it?? :)

P.S. I feel like whenever I post, I'm a thread killer LOL!

we're talking about the stereo on a base 370 hehe. the volume is measured in numbers.
