Dealer tried to repair.
 

Hey I took mine to the selling dealer and they replaced the differenial.

this did not help at all.

The dealer is now working with the teck support group to figue out the real problem.

The real problem is cold tires. I had this happen in my Chevy Malibu. Since its German Law to use S+M rated tires in the winter, when they put the S+M tires on, the noise went away. Your tires are not designed for freezinf temp on the road surface, your basicly slidding on the tires and the car is compensating with the vlsd.

After being here, its never a bad idea to get yourself a set of Snow Tires for the winter. I was extremly amazed how they improved my traction after putting them on. I hope the US will follow most countries that get snow and make this a law. It could save you lots of money in the long run.

The real solution to the problem is there is no real problem. If you use winter or all season tires in the winter the problem with be eliminated.

I agree, it should be law here for the snow states. Only provinces of Canada have that law. Oh and we call them M+S tires, to avoid the confusion that S+M might carry :icon17:

IMO, all Z's (except maybe the NISMO) should come standard with high performance all-season tires. The performance difference up to 7/10 street driving is negligible, yet the all-seasons perform much better during the cold months and last longer, too.

My old S2000 on the OE summer tires was near dangerous when driving in cold weather, a switch to hp-all-seasons made it a great all-season daily driver (except for heavy snow, of course). Most affordable sports cars are compromise vehicles anyway, why deliver the car with summer only tires that limit its cold weather performance and wear out more quickly? For bragging rights? It's a waste.

No, happens on my Z at any temperature.

it happens whenever it won'ts to. hot or cold. at slow turns forwards or backing up. "it's normal" first thing a nissan tech is taught to say at school :ughdance:

100% normal for a sports car.

The outside of the tire is turning faster than the inside of the tire during a tight corner at low speed so the outside of the tire ends up sliding (usually grip/slide, grip/slide, which leads to a "scrubbing" sound) instead of rolling.

I didn't know we had so many people who were skilled with puns.

My tires don't do this after my tires warm up from driving. They will do this only when they are cold [for me]. I actually had to get out of my car and make sure I didn't have a flat the first time it happened.

This is problem that needs to be FIXED

If you can get them to put all-season tires on your car under warranty for free - go for it. The rest of us know what the problem is and don't care.

Sliding of the tire would happen if the tire DID NOT turn at different speeds - this is the problem that a differential (or independent front tires in RWD car) solves.
