I agree with Rasengan...if you didn't actually see your neighbor do it, and you have to continue living and parking near him, you should probably swallow your pride and get it fixed yourself.

Sucks that he wouldn't own up to causing the damage, but it sounds like there's a chance he isn't the one who did it.

Any chance there's some noticeable damage or some of your paint on his car door? I'm assuming it's a door ding...

Like put child porn on it and call the police saying you "found" it?

I'm kidding about that too...

I would be sure to say something like "man, I came out the other day and found a scratch on my car, took it in and had to pay $XYZ to have it fixed. Ain't that a crock? Wish I knew how the f... it happened - then again I'd probably put a hole through their knee with a .45."

Then watch 'em squirm. Almost makes up for it.

I was thinking the same thing...

When I was really young I had an unfortunate drinking and driving incident... I was totally plastered and when I backed out of the spot at my friend's apartment, I connected rear bumpers with a car in the lot. I don't really remember doing it.

I went back to my friend's place a few days later. We left for most of the day and, when we came back, my car was gone. I reported it as stolen, but the cops said "It wasn't stolen, it was impounded for leaving the scene of an accident." It turns out that a tiny piece (about 1") of my rear brake light had broken off... the victim had kept it. When he saw my car, he fit it like a puzzle. Luckily, he dropped the charges when I offered to pay him $400 for a $100 scratch :icon17:

There were no scratches to be seen as I am super carefull around the car and havent even had it a month. I go outside about an hour ago to finish shoveling and their car that was parked next to mine on the passenger side of my car is gone and thats when I see the scratch. So by my powers of deduction it seems pretty straight foward as to who the culprit is.

Im sure it wont be that hard to fix its just the principle of the matter

Shouldn't wear those sunglasses when your shoveling snow!

my next car is gonna be a car that i don't car if it gets scratched or anything. it's just too painful when s*** like this happens. I may just buy a Hyundai Santa Fe or something...

So I think Im just going to fix his computer and charge him like $100 for it and put it towards getting the scratch fixed. Im pretty sure it was his wife that did it but I cant prove it. And the kicker is she was just telling me yesterday how much she liked my new car and how she wants to get one when their kid goes away to college.

My car is blue and the scratch shows up white but their car is green. I think something she was carrying bumped into it. I know it was an accident just wish people would be more careful.

my first scratch came via a rock, this paint chips/scratches way too damn easy...

If I were on trial, I wouldn't want you for a juror!!

haha, yeah actually youre not the only one. Ive gone through the selection process once and as soon as they found out Im an engineer I was free to go. Apparently engineers are too critical in their thinking.

JUST seen today (after my husband was clearing all the snow off my car) a 4-5 inches deep scratch on the fender. Immediately blamed him since I washed my car the night before the snow and there was NO scratch. He claims he didn't do it..but he's now buying my new exhaust cuz of it! He just don't know it yet...til I use my credit card :) Mess with me..not my car LOL He's lucky I have touch up paint...which I'm not a pro at doing yet but did touch up 2 lines on my hood

or you can lease a car. i think a scratch on a leased car is not going to be as painful as a scratch on a car that you purchased.

PapoZalsa 02-11-2010 09:26 PM

Just make up conversation with your neighbors about the snow then throw in the scratch you found on your car to see if they will confess to the act. ;)
