Acknowledging your fellow Zs

So the other day I saw a silver 370z in Santa Monica, and he flashed his lights at me in a moment of Z comeraderie.

Totally cool, especially because I don't see many Zs in Los Angeles.

I know when I rode a motorcycle, I'd feel compelled to give a head nod or a hand gesture when I saw a fellow rider on the street.

So I'm wondering if you 'tip your cap' when you see other Zs on the road?

And if you do, does that courtesy extend to all Zs, or just 370s?

I usually wave.

antman22 02-05-2010 12:21 PM

i usually give a wave, thumbs up, or head nod...i'll give it to other Z's, doesn't matter what model.

i've received the same from 350's, 370's and even some G35's/37's....

Horseface 02-05-2010 12:24 PM

I would do, but I've never seen any other 370Zs on the road since buying mine. :)

I only see 350s and they're too common and not even real Zs...

;)

smashbar 02-05-2010 12:32 PM

A GT-R driver gave me a wave recently. Other than that, I've only seen one other 370 on the road in the past year.

spearfish25 02-05-2010 12:35 PM

I blipped my high beams at a 350 this morning. He was all over it with an immediate high beam blip back along with a wave.

M1K3 02-05-2010 12:39 PM

I always try to give a blip of the high beams when i see a fellow Z driver. :tiphat:

fullmonty 02-05-2010 01:11 PM

I thought we were giving each other the finger?

GingaBreadMan 02-05-2010 01:48 PM

We are giving the finger. I haven't seen a 370 to do it yet

flashburn 02-05-2010 01:55 PM

Finally had the first person in a Z (350) wave at me, I promptly returned the wave, and I will continue to wave at any Z I see in close proximity.

ferrari_rich 02-05-2010 02:09 PM

Yes, I flash the lights, but have only seen 1 other 370Z.

Where I am from, mostly Benz's, Porsches, and Audi's (although many Lexus's). Some people have got an attitude with Japanese sports cars. Very few Z's here.

My friends daughter said she wouldn't get caught dead in a Honda or Nissan etc.. She HAD to have her daddy buy her an Audi. What a snob

spearfish25 02-05-2010 02:16 PM

It's easy to get stuck in the German car fetish. However, I'm more enamored with my Z than any Audi I've ever owned. The 'rawness' of the car is really fun. I just wish the dealership/service experiences were better. So far, Nissan does a piss-poor customer service job. The idea of taking the car in for a service gives me goose bumps.

molamann 02-05-2010 02:51 PM

I've always thrown the upside down "V" to fellow riders(cruisers AND sportbikes) when I'm on my bike but it feels pretty awkward acknowledging somebody else while I'm in my Z.

Yep!:iagree::tiphat:

initialgemini 02-05-2010 04:09 PM

LOL. I try to acknowledge other drivers. However, when I was younger I gave someone a thumbs up to another fellow car enthusiast, and a cop pulled me over because he imagined that I was attempting to race him :shakes head:

kenchan 02-05-2010 06:48 PM

doesnt it suck when you forget that you're driving another car and you wave and thumbsup at a z and they're looking at you like

never happened to me either.

frost 02-05-2010 06:50 PM

Here is a similar thread, good reading:

Forrest 02-05-2010 07:05 PM

flash of the high beams. Once i had a Lady wave at me in my Z while she was in hers.

Xan 02-05-2010 07:14 PM

If I get the chance, for sure. I'm still in my 350, so as long as it's a Z.

A Viper driver around here seems friendly as well... So he's included...

What???????

I'll give thumbs up or high beams to 350 or 370Zs!

TamZ 02-05-2010 07:32 PM

I've seen a few 350Z's around here..and I notice they are usually taking a look at my car, and I feel like I should wave...but then it feels awkward..lol..most of the drivers are guys and I'm a semi-older lady. Not sure what they'd think. LOL!

370Zsteve 02-05-2010 07:35 PM

headlight blip, any Z.

Prolly blip a GT-R if I ever saw one....

Red370 02-05-2010 08:20 PM

Believe it or not, there's alot of Z douchebaggery around here, especially since an 03'-04' 350 can be afforded by a zit faced high school kid that works at sonic. The only ones that ever beam me back are the older enthusiast types.

telling ya it was the coolest thing to see this white haired lady wave at me from her 350z roadster hehe. She intiated it too so i was impressed.

zmyride 02-05-2010 09:20 PM

i have never seen a GT-R on the road yet.

But if i see a Z, i have to see if he carries a gun, before i wave.

This Z carries one, a Smith & Wesson J-frame .357 to be exact, should I wave with my hand or the gat? :icon17:

jstevenson 02-05-2010 09:26 PM

I get waves or light blips from other 370zs and GT-Rs.

Just saw one on the way to work the other day (unusual) and he waved.

It's nice, you don't see a ton of these guys out on the streets (even in L.A... everyone wants their 135i, heh) so it's a cool little community

Buncha poseurs...

mirror 02-06-2010 12:59 AM

All the 350Z drivers in this area are ********. Most of the ones I've encountered have flipped me off or tried to race me after waving to them.

Haven't seen many 370Zs in this area.

CrownR426 02-06-2010 01:14 AM

The right z thang to do is
Flick your beams twice and nod!
Respect baby, baby!
Every z I see, I do!

SoCal 370Z 02-06-2010 01:26 AM

I usually engage in a vehicular game of Chicken...so far Semtex has balked. :eekdance:

Reaper42 02-06-2010 01:26 AM

Flick of the high beams or a wave.

I also own a jeep wrangler, and the commrodary between wrangler owners is phenominal. Since pretty much every wrangler looks the same since the 40's I find it exhausting how much I wave on a simple drive to the food market. So yes, be courteous, but damn nuthing will ever beat being on the road with a wrangler.

:tiphat:

+2 here. I've seen very few 370's but i have seen 3 blue ones and I gave a high-beam blip to the first one that was traveling towards me, with no response, and also to a roadster (looks sweet btw) and again nothing. I got a wave from an older gentleman in a blue 370, but the 350z crowd try to be snoody. I have caught them staring and they try to look away like they weren't drooling. On the highway i caught up with a blacked out bmw 1 series, we gave each other thumbs up. other than that there is a lot of douchebaggery in South FL.

I'll second that!:iagree:

Met a nice looking lady in the gas station the other day. She was driving a graphite 350Z. Had a nice conversation admiring each other's cars. It was a great ice breaker for an intro.

Got to love those hot babes in hot cars!!!
