Alternate reality; 2021 370Z Refresh

If Nissan continued on with the 11 year VQ37 370Z production run; with just a simple front & rear fascia/headlight refresh instead of what we got with the new (expensive) Z:

New Z is perfectly fine. It's just priced too damn expensive.

That's the point. A minimally refreshed 370Z as seen in the image would have had a minimal price increase from the 2020's $30,000 starting price.

To me the biggest ask would have been to use the current engine they are using for the new Z. Having a TT setup - that is what most of us wanted already and something they should have been doing since they added that engine to the Infiniti Q's. Regardless - it was time for an update. As for the price - EVERYTHING is expensive - feels like $60k is the new $40k when it comes to the price of cars. The silver lining for me (since I like to trade in vehicles so much) is that it making me keep my current ride and wait out the craziness of the car market.

Looks like a Sentra front end.

Also looks like a baby GT-R. This refreshed 370Z front-end IMO looks better, more aggressive, more expensive and more exotic than the new Z.

It's not a bad render but.....this platform is 11yrs old. It was FANTASTIC when it first came out and was very competitive against all comers - yet...when Mustang and Camaros started the HP wars - it just wasn't as competitive in a straight line; throw in the fact that more and more cars are coming with turbos - and simple tunes are making those Civics and GTIs faster in a straight line. I know I know - HP and 0-60 don't mean everything but....it would have been nice if the Z would have ended with having a VR30 engine thrown in it. I know I am constantly on the fence about - 'do I move onto a new platform or....turbo/SC the Z'
Don't get me wrong - i LOVE my car - it's a really nice balance of performance out of the box and I always catch myself checking it out when I am pumping gas or looking back when I park it - just a beautiful car; its just sad that Civic Si's and GTIs are basically beating it from stop light to stop light - and lets not even discuss Mustangs haha. Anyway - in the end - love my Z - can't justify spending $55k for a new Z and even $60ish for a Nismo - soo...I enjoy what I have and carry on.

Same - I even have started eyeing a Q60RS 7AT swap and that Z1 supercharger... owning a midnight blue 370z = TONS of looks... I still love the handling/looks of my car... just miss the low end TQ of FI and I don't see myself financing a vehicle again.. Once you get rid of car payments it's hard to think about going back! and for $60k+ for the new Z then introduces all sorts of cross shopping...

I'm happy they got rid of the boomerang headlights. the new z lights are much better
would have been better if the new z was an overall better car with 370z like curves but. oh well

Couldn't agree more with everything you are saying. Financing a car - especially now - it just doesn't make financial sense for most (including myself haha); so my plan is to hopefully get a slightly used new Z or Supra once prices start to go back to 'normal' - whatever that is - and honestly probably NOT for about 3-5yrs.

Not necessarily, and most likely a huge increase still thanks to COVID19. Global supply chain disruption. EVERYTHING went up.

I've said this many times and will say it again. Nissan should have taken a hiatus after the 370Z, going back to the drawing board, and start from scratch. Timing would have sense, esp. with COVID19 coming about.

This is what happened between the 300ZX and 350Z (minus the pandemic obviously), and the 350Z was a huge success, while also building anticipation amongst the fans/buyers.

It doesn't make sense to get into unnecessary debt at this time (with the exception of buying real estate). If you can't buy with cash, don't buy it at all for now.

The Feds will likely continue to raise rates in a supply-short environment (quantitative tightening), which in turn makes it more expensive to borrow to buy something that is already at elevated prices.

Pricing going down will heavily depend on the supply side, which we are still somewhat experiencing global supply chain issues and when the Feds will decide to implement quantitative easing (which typically happens during a recession and not when fighting inflation).
