Opinions on ground kits

I bought one and getting it installed tomorrow FINALLY. I've heard this will help with the handling of the car. Does anyone have information on grounding kits and would you put one on your car?

Why the fcuk do people on here make others seem stupid?!! Enough with those gay azz smileys...JUST SAY SOMETHING! Say I dont know what I'm talking about or call me stupid! Really....it wont offend me...I'm not a mechanic, nor a person who only cares about cars. I have questions..and ask for answers.

Those faces mean confuse for what you are asking. Grounding kit and handling I don't think it goes together. Unless you are talking about a body kit.

BTW, I don't want to make anyone feel stupid because everyday I learn something different. ;)

ricky bobby 01-29-2010 09:45 PM

i say do it i wanna see pics! if i had the money i would do it my altima cuz after 105 i feel like there is too much air underneath the car. as for the Z between 140 and 155 it seems to be ok but there is always room for improvement.

P.S. :):):):):):):):):):)

I just get so irritated with those smileys cuz some poeple seem so snotty or ignorant with them. But anyways..... no its not a body kit. The grounding kit....as stated on their website, supposed to help with the handling of the car and your losing horsepower w/o them. They're just some type of wires. I don't have much more information other than that. Do you know what a grounding kit does?

wat? What do you classify as a grounding kit? Like the other guy said a "grounding kit" wont help with handling.

Just being a lil lazy and avoiding typing a lengthy response here is a link with some info on them

A grounding kit is supposed to "help your car run better by stabilizing electrical noise and voltage spikes and equalizing resistance and voltage between various ground points" thus improving ECU signals and throttle response resulting in better performance and reduction in flat spots.

But I haven't seen anything concrete to prove this yet.

Word lol. Mainly just makes the engine bay look better

azn370z 01-29-2010 09:52 PM

If you're talking about those wires it won't do anything. You may think after the install your car runs better etc. I've seen one dyno from Nissan sport magazine and it resulted in a loss of 2whp.

werd, I'm keeping my money in my pocket unless someone reputable actually claims this product works.

SophiaZ 01-29-2010 09:53 PM

Sorry... I stand corrected.... and in my mind I was thinking about a different part for the car. My fault. The grounding kit is suppose to increase HP ( releasing hidden hp from the stock setup) and improve shifting while keeping the engine more quiet

ricky bobby 01-29-2010 09:55 PM

OOPS! i thought you were talking about a bodykit:confused: as for the grounding kit you are speaking of i have no knowledge :roflpuke2:

Already wasted haha Bought it a month ago and getting it installed tomorrow. I just read on a 350z forum that some people have noticed an improvement in smoother/quicker shifting and a quieter engine bay. Some say they can't tell a difference but under the hood looks prettier LOL

If I were to take a guess (and it's just a guess, so take it for what it's worth), the people who feel improvement are likely just imagining it. Not trying to knock them though, if I installed a performance part, I would probably imagine a performance increase that wasn't there as well.

Yep. A lot of the time its in your head though. I guess since you already have it go for it then lol

SophiaZ 01-29-2010 10:03 PM

Yea, it could possibly be a placebo, but someone also stated their dyno proved 6hp+

I googled this, and I've been through probably 8 message boards at this point, no one has had any gains, and no one is recommending purchasing one except the people who sell them.

Back to back dyno? This is pretty important, because doing something like dynoing on a different day under different conditions could have made a 6hp difference in hp itself.

SophiaZ 01-29-2010 10:05 PM

And if I think it's pointless...it'll come off....but there's nothing wrong with alittle engine dress up

STILLEN : STILLEN Grounding Kit

Quote:

You are losing horsepower and torque without STILLEN's new Grounding Kits. Today's engine management systems utilize hundreds of sensors and in some cases over 12 onboard computers that constantly monitor all parameters of the engine and powertrain.

Installing STILLEN's Grounding Kit ensures that sensors and computers are not affected by power surges that can drain performance. This ensures that all wire diameters are optimal for amperage and current travel distance.

These kits feature 8-gauge copper wire, gold plated connectors along with 4-gauge & 8-gauge ring connectors, and are developed specifically for your application. Available in silver or red.

These grounding kits will also improve the shifting on automatic transmission vehicles, and in most cases noticeably improve shift times and reduce lag.
Some members here with 7AT transmission has them on their car I believe. May be they can chime in if they noticed any difference. As someone mentioned above, you're looking at very little HP gain and slightly crisp shifting.

Good luck and keep us posted with a post install review.

P.S.: I don't think PapoZalsa expressed a sarcastic comment. He was simply confused. Sorry for the confusion.

I have one on mine.....did I notice a difference? Not really......just seems it was more for looks and appearance.....not unhappy that I got it, tho. I mostly got it because of the last sentence....since I have the 7AT. Anyways....that's my 2 cents on it.

"I have STILLEN,, I love it.

Windows roll up faster, Sound system sounds cleaner, Car feel smoother.

Lights are brighter."....the350z.com forum

I'm not so much wanting performance upgrades.....but it will also improve the sound quality on the stock radio...but want it for my new radio (when I'm able to buy it). Other than that..if the kit doesn't do anything..screw it.....I'll have some red under the hood and be a hundred bucks short. Sh*t happens..I can deal with it...been through worse.

StealthZ 01-29-2010 10:16 PM

its supposed to help out with all electric current flow and even it out and make it more consistent flow. I don't think its a must have but if you want one and got the money go for it. I'd rather put it else where but that is my opinion. the manufacturer should have all information on what it is for. :)
Cheers
