At least he’s honest.

I have heard about this occasionally.
I have heard the manifolds on newer models are different from the earlier models. So if it is using factory manifolds I can understand the issue.

Easy oversight IMO.

Ah but I don’t think it’s that small of an oversight when I drop 5k on a kit... I guess this was a budget kit and buyers should know that not much r&d probably went into it :(

How do you develop and sell a turbo kit and not know different model years have differences in manifolds? The turbo connects to the damn thing.

Give them a chance to fix it up. Turbo kits like these (and many of the ones available for our cars) are often designed and setup by a couple of dudes in a shop that had to borrow someone's car to mock it up. I think the public admission is a positive overall and would be much more worried if they were trying to keep something quiet.

I mean, it is half the price of most kits for these cars.
If you gotta buy a used set of manifolds to finish it off that's not that big of deal IMO.
The rule of thumb when going forced induction, or doing an engine swap - Take however you budget for the price of the conversion, and double it.
There will always be unforeseen expenses no matter how well you think you plan.

Wuero370z 12-18-2019 03:20 PM

I respect them for publicly posting that versus sending an email to everyone who bought a kit. I’m all for people innovating and creating in the Z world but I think companies should do it right or don’t do it at all. It’s really about all those small details that separate the elite from the mediocre

Kinda burning them at stake as they are admitting they goofed here..

I don't believe they are even a Nissan experienced shop. Give them a chance to make it right. Not like that many people are in a rush to even remotely offer a kit in this price range for our ageing chassis.

5K is chicken shiet money. Go buy two manifolds and have at it.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Any company that goes out of its way to correct a problem with their product, and makes the facts of it publicly available, deserves to be lauded and given a chance to make things right.

Heaven knows there are a lot of companies out there that would deny responsibility and tell you to go pound salt.

Reading the thread title made me think there’s an engine failure due to the design of the turbo kit.
