depends, do you have a good mechanic? do you have a reliable backup car? do you have money to burn?

I feel like if you are looking for power, a V8 would suit you more.
This car looks great and handles better. |
For me the Z looks great right out of the box. I've spent a decent amount of cash on upgrades to the engine and exhaust, but I haven't even considered spending a dime on the looks because it already looks great to me.
|
For my needs the stock Z strikes a good balance of form and function, however, to answer the question, I’ll take looks over power; it comes with enough from the factory.

I thought it had enough power when i first bought it too.. Now i need more. |
sound, looks, then power..no matter what car Im driving.

get LED lights first
|
Don't look the part and not be the part. Power first!!
|
I think It's a good looking car as is even though it's dated now. Power needs a good bump but costs a lot to make much of a difference.. My stock sport wheels look like ***.That's where I'll start modding this one.

+1 The Nissan 370Z already looks very tastefully done and looks amazing. Although I believe the Nissan 370Z can use improvement in the power department and sound needs to be improved as stock the 370Z is too quiet and the Nismo exhaust is very nice but only a minor improvement really.

Suspension, Brakes, Power and looks. I'm ADD so I sprinkled a little in Suspension, brakes and looks.... Then saw a squirrel in the power department and haven't left yet because of shiny objects.
Final thought... Tacos are good. |

I have no need for additional power for my daily driving. I could see you needing more power if you track/drag race at legitimate events. All more power will do is get me speeding tickets, this car is plenty fast considering the traffic laws in the US.

Both!
Do one before the other? Simultaneously? I think that I don't know what to think. |
"Go" before "Show" |
This guy agrees. All GO, then a lil show (not really though):

My 2 cents worth.. A bit late.
Having heavily modified an RS13 Nissan... Engine built by the guy who used to build the F1 engines for the Jordan Formula 1 Team. A Big Brake Kit. Fully Adjustable Rose jointed Suspension (including track and TEIN coilovers) and then trying to quieten down the Blitz Nur Spec R with 3 Inch Down pipe / Cat replacement... I would now go for looks, which is what I'm doing. NISMO 2015 kit on a Roadster with an exhaust a filter upgrade and a remap... with TEIN coilovers (and EDFC Active Pro) I have a 7AT also...... FWIW, Hard / Track suspension does not make a girl with a massive rack happy |
For info. My CA18DET spec was:
Forged JE Pistons to SE Spec (8.0:1 Compression ratio) Forged I Beam Rods Billet Knife Edged Crank Fully Lightened and balanced Gas Flowed Cylinder Head with Tomei Poncams 260 Duration, 8.8mm lift. Exhaust and Inlet Ported. JUN Compassion Valve Springs JUN Hyperlight Flywheel Wills Ringed block (Could use a standard head gasket Engine never missed a beat. with Silkolene Esther Synthetic Garret 2871R at 1.7 bar boost Would I do it again? No. Go for looks. Women don't care how fast a car goes. They prefer how good they look in it. Why I chose a Roadster for my GF I haven't even altered the Stereo. (The S13 had a few KW JL Audio in it) If you are going to spend thousand making it go faster etc. Buy a faster car in the first place. It's like twin turboing a G37 or buying an M5. I'd get the M5 |
