Oil change

I know the debate never ends on which oil to use, however, I just want something to go off of as I have no clue. I live in mid-Michigan, and will only drive the z during sun seasons. Outside temps will range from 50-90. The car is 2012 and has about 55k miles and is a daily, not a track/drift car. Now, lets hear it!

Dom, My brother-in-law's sister uses used 5-20 in her Sentra. Says it works great and it's cheap. She lives in Michigan too. So....

I heard he mounts a sickle on his APR splitter and just drives the Z back and forth.

And oh, yes. Once he's out of traction we're gonna be running far and fast. :santasleigh2:

OP: In case you haven't noticed, we have A LOT of "which oil is best for..." threads. These threads very quickly turn into a contest to see who can make the most clever oil-related jokes

I don't know about ya'll... but... I've been using my motorcycle's Lucas 2 stroke oil in my Z for the last 2 changes... a little smokey, but dam if she don't run great! And I feel so much more power for some reason. Like HP gains all over the place!! Holy mother!!! I'm probably on to something here.

Updates as necessary.

Yea, but it’s a giant PITA Putting it in the gas tank, filling up with gas, and then having to jump up and down on the back bumper to mix it properly.

I've picked up huuuuge HP gains by replacing the stock oil filter with a Mason jar filled with sand from Frenchman Flat wrapped in soiled XXXL pantyhose.

I worked around that by retrofitting the auto oil injection system from my 2001 Kawasaki Jetski. No more oil mixing for me!

I like to mix my oil with antifreeze. Keeps the pistons cooler.

I've heard that before. Gonna try that after my next 25k mile oil change.

Sorry to deBUNK your statement, but every expert worthy of his oil pan pin knows that Molyblahblahblah is essential to the health of your motor's oil.

Just ask Rusty! He discovered the dang thing.

osbornsm 07-08-2019 01:22 PM

What oil should be used when it's 274 K outside?

Will my brakes go into Ice mode when it's cold out?

How is this thread still going?

:bowrofl:

I believe Ice Mode is a fighter jet maneuver popularized in Top Gun.

Why is it gay? I mean, who doesn't play beach volleyball in just jeans with Kenny Logins music playing in the background? I wear "just jeans" for a lot of events... like hanging out at 7-11, walking in the middle of the day on the side of the Interstate highway, checking out how things are going at my ex-girlfriend's house from the sidewalk across the street, city parks, under bridges... I ain't gotta be all about fashion 24/7... sometimes it pays to be comfortable guys.

LOL!! You’re not gay, you’re a homeless stalker!

MZ DAIZY 07-08-2019 03:50 PM

Ok, so anyway, back on topic.... to the OP, I still recommend 5W-30.

Welcome! :tiphat:

How many times do I have to explain this? Ok, so it's not gay if you think it's a girl. There, I said it. Again.

You're welcome.
