Not Finding Many Used 370z's

Hi,

I live in Indianapolis. I'm planning to buy a 370z around the March/April time frame, and would prefer a used one.

Maybe I'm not searching the right car sites, because I'm not finding hardly any used 370z's in my area.

Is this a common thing? Thanks.

13+ pages of 370zs within 500 miles of 46077 for sale on autotrader.

spring may be the worst time to look if you're trying to save a buck.

The Nissan 370Z and the Infiniti G37 are wanted vehicles in the market so it is not surprising since a lot of Nissan 370Z enthusiasts keep there vehicles for a long time even 100K+ miles. The Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37 are reliable vehicles to own and have excellent resale value as well. I could have sold my Z one hundred times over but I choice to keep it. Expand your Nissan 370Z search and you should be able to find one that you like. www.ebaymotors.com www.autotrader.com www.cars.com www.craigslist.org www.autonation.com www.carmax.com www.autolist.com

Carmax and Carvana will both transport cars if you see one far away you want.

Finding a clean one from a private seller could be tough, I ended up having to buy from Carmax and don't regret it. The Nissan dealers suuuuuucked. Carmax actually have a great extended warranty as well (they actually honor it) if you're planning on not going full racecar.

Like everyone above have said, they are out there. Just take your time and what ever you do, don't just settle. Get the one that you want!!

I have one for sale. A 2010 base coupe with sports package and six speed manual. Also has 36,000 miles on it.

indybrett 01-10-2019 10:09 AM

Thanks for the responses.

Autotrader is showing 5 used, within 75 miles of 46143. That's not much. Filtering on manual transmission only gives me 2. This is going to be hard...
Right now I'm just looking. I won't be ready to purchase until early late March or early April.

CRiZO 01-10-2019 10:17 AM

Not to draw up the manual vs auto argument, but I'd suggest driving both. I was dead set on a manual until I drove the auto. Might open up your options if you reach the same conclusion.

indybrett 01-10-2019 10:28 AM

Cars.com gave me better results. Guess I just need to setup a search (with email alerts) on all of them.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm pretty dead set on manual, but I'll heed your advice and try an auto.

All you have to do is go to FB do a WTB post, you'll get all kinds of people throw their cars at you.

babyzilla 01-10-2019 01:01 PM

Just my 2 cents: I know you said you will be ready by March or April, but don't let that be the driving factor. It's an exciting time to look for your next car, but make sure it's exactly what you want even if it's waiting a lot longer. I searched and waited well over a year and I was able to find my dream 370z. I've been having a blast every day, and recently just got my first ticket, but that was my fault lol. My point is, be patient and don't let the timeline drive you :) It'll be worth it!

babyzilla 01-10-2019 01:07 PM

What about these? Not sure what your requirements are, but these seem to be great deals from forum members.

OP, I can feel your pain. I was on Cars.com, auto trader, and every used car website out there after my 2012 got totaled. What helped; deciding what I wanted, year, color, package, mileage, etc. I made a list by what I considered the most important and started looking. Read the dealer reviews, especially if you are going to look nationwide. You don't want to find a car, go there and find out that the 'internet price' is bogus and the price is really $3k more (yes, there are dealers that do that chit :gtfo2:)

I live in KC and I flew to Waukesha WI to buy my 2015 Magma Red Sport and drove it home. Patience is the key...

That's good advice.

Hadn't thought of that (really hate air travel), but that sounds doable. I do love the magma red, btw.

Mine kind of plopped into my lap. I had been looking just browsing mainly and getting a feel for what the car I had was worth (Fiat 500’s aren’t worth anything btw) and mine just happened to show up in town. I got mine from the local Nissan dealer, who didn’t want to honor the internet price because they got it from their next door Lexus dealer. Which I thought was bogus, and then wouldn’t reimburse me the $80 in parts for the front pads and rotors I had to put on 3 days after I bought the car and the extended warranty. Be careful where you buy from, do the research. I do however love the car, I wouldn’t have changed a thing about buying it unless I had found a Nismo for the same price which wasn’t going to happen with that low of mileage. I got the manual because I just don’t like automatics. Drive both though because like stated above the auto is supposedly not so bad in these. I can’t confirm or deny that, I’m just a manual snob I suppose. XD

I agree you should keep your options open and test drive both the automatic and manual transmission Z to see what transmission you can live with driving every day. I recommend checking eBay Motors I have seen a lot of nice Z’s for sale there as of late.

Spooler 01-10-2019 09:44 PM

Autotrader is your friend. I found my 2013 Nismo at a dealership in Indianapolis, Indiana and bought it. It fell in my lap after my 2012 Nismo was totaled. I had it shipped to me. I was tickled to have been able to find another with only 77xx miles on it. You will know when you find it. Don't trust, verify everything.

sp911 01-11-2019 05:36 AM

def be patient. I had found in the past that many cars from smaller dealerships have cars still on autotrader and their own website that have already been sold. the price shown looks pretty good, but then when you go to inquire, it's been sold. I found this many times.

Shultzie 01-11-2019 06:20 AM

There's a nice red Nismo on Indy craigslist now.

sp911 01-11-2019 11:32 AM

and check out options and trim levels. many don't like the base model nearly as much.

I had been driving a 2016 Miata MX-5 for the last few years. Turned it on from the lease in October. I really do prefer a manual in a sports car, auto for everything else. I will give the auto a try though.

As a transmission technician I give the automatic A7 transmissions in our Z’s credit as they shift very effectively in stock form and are reliable and dependable to use for street or track duty but if you plan on using your Z for heavy track duty if you choose the automatic A7 transmission I highly recommend upgrading it before hand. I have seen the automatic A7 transmissions in our Z’s last 200K+ miles just really depends on how you use your Z and if you service your automatic A7 transmission on time. I have to agree there is nothing like a manual transmission in the Z very enjoying to drive! I would never own a Ford or Mazda again though when they say fix or repair daily they were not kidding.

This goes for anything tbh.

I think it was during an April (2016) I was looking at a '10 Sport. I backed out because I thought the dealer was shady with the financing they were arranging, and despite being of the few in the budget, I wasn't convinced it was actually worthwhile.

Fast-forward to June of that same year, I find a '13 Sport Touring in way better condition for 4 grand more — the one I still have now.

There was no way in hell I was ever buying the first one, and that's really the principle. Don't settle. There was no coulda/woulda/shoulda kind of regret walking away from that even though at the time that was the difference between having a Z and no car period. The whole "YOLO" decision is buying such a car in general, but you take your time finding the best version of it.

I used the Car Gurus app to find mine. Just put in your preferences and it will find them. Also, if someone drops their price or another one shows up, they will send you a notification.

indybrett 01-15-2019 04:22 PM

I found one! 2014 with only 10k miles, leather interior, and the Nismo upgrades, for just over 23k. It's mine now!!!! I wasn't planning to buy now, but I couldn't pass on this. It's a manual too.

Only problem is I may need to take out a loan when it's time to buy tires, lol.

Spoiler 01-15-2019 04:27 PM

Congrats on the find... post pics when you can....

(My last tires were purchased at Discount Tire during a holiday weekend sale... less then $1k for new RE11's)

Maybe these wheels will grow on me, but if not, could they be made black? I don't know much about powder coating wheels.
