Educ8r, I agree with regarding when big trucks or suvs lights blind the crap out of you. But I have a aftermarket rear view mirror that has a bluish tint that keeps it from being really bright. But another problem is the side view mirrors. If the truck or cars is wide enough or more on either side those damn light shine right in my face. I wish there was something I can put over the side view mirrors to keep it from blinding me.

I paid $470 and went back and had the lights done for $125, there are bubbles in both lights so they will either fix it or do it over. I was told they have a machine that will suck the excess water and air out, we will see. Oh yeah I went back to the dealership to have my plates installed (here in TEXAS the DMV delivers plates to the dealership) well while I was waiting I was looking at the other Z's on the lot, they were charging $795 for the clear bra, which didn't include lights.

Get a quote on painting the front bumper and let's see if that's cheaper than buying a clear bra.

I paid $675, and that was "discounted." They did an okay job, had to take it back for them to fix a few things. A lot depends on where you live and what type of bra they use.

Did anyone watch their installation process? How do they get around the automatic window drop when the door is opened to install the tint?

You just trigger the latch while the door is open..

still haven't tinted my windows. i think i'm going to do that last and just spend on the parts that i want to add on for the Z first.

bluzman 05-21-2009 03:52 PM

35% side windows, 20% rear. See My Gallery below for "before" and "after" pix.

tbss370z 05-21-2009 07:10 PM

I getting my done tomorrow with 22% all around. I also thinking about getting the taillights done at a later date. The taillights use a different tint paper that needs to be ordered. I had it done on my black Cadillac XLR and it looked good!

Nice. What is the size of the tires and rims?

oreocrumble 05-01-2010 05:04 PM

I had the same issue after tinting my windows and the automatic window roll down.

I temporarily disabled it by removing the screw in the door switch. This is the ground for the system.

BrianMSmith 05-02-2010 02:43 AM

my tint peeled in the front lower corner, but never got worse than that, so I'm not bothered.

I got one of my previous cars tinted in January and it took about 5 days before it was completely dry.

This is essentially what I did yesterday. It was high-70's and sunny. D&L told me to wait a few days, but that with as hot as it was, and with them doing some drying to account for the auto-rolldown, It would essentially dry in a day.

I'm not going to risk it, though. Still gonna wait a few days before taking them down.

You'll be fine. All the reputable places that do tint will offer you some kind of warranty, and worst case you take it back to them. They'll also notice the instant they open the door that the windows drop a bit, and know how to deal with it appropriately.

I told my tinter right off, and they said it's not a problem, a number of vehicles are doing that now, and they know how to deal with it.

They also told me that if it peels or wrinkles for any reason, bring it back and they'll fix it.

The one thing I don't like is how it doesn't quite stick around the dots on the edge of the glass (it sticks, just there's gaps between the dots) - I don't know if this is typical, since this is the first car I've had tinted...

It is - you can get a new bumper and have it painted for the cost of a clearbra.

That's my plan...if I go to sell my Z, I'll replace the bumper, and have a pro-shop touch up and blend any chips on the fenders/hood/pillars/mirrors.
